John has designed the renovations for two terrace houses in Paddington for us. John worked in a very cooperative way with us, taking on board our requirements and providing a design solution that reflected our needs. John also worked with our builder to ensure the final solution was constructable and well resolved. John's designs made great use of the very constrained space and the end result in both cases were beautiful spaces with great flow and light. John offered up various design alternatives, guided us through the design process and ensured we were happy with final result. John dealt with our ideas and queries with patience, explained the pros and cons of various options and took on board our concepts. John also advised on finishes to ensure the finished product met our vision. John has a good understanding of the costs of construction and provides advice on alternatives. John also worked well with the other consultants on the projects to ensure a well coordinated design. The documentation prepared for the DA and CC were of a high standard and resulted in a speedy approval. We would have no hesitation in recommending John to design a renovation or family home.

John developed the design and specs for our kitchen renovation which was a total re-build in an existing apartment. We gutted the old and replaced with all new. John was our architect - we engaged a builder separately. We loved working with John - he listened and he responded with options that reflected what we wanted - and added to our ideas with his experience and professional advice in a way that worked well. John oversaw the design and paperwork for the renovation of my 1860s terrace house in Surry Hills in Sydney. It’s a very small space (only 60sqm) in an awkward shape, so the job required some very creative thinking in terms of design. John was able to cleverly maximise the liveability of the space and imbue it with a very contemporary feel while retaining a lot of heritage charm. John was also able to incorporate some great ideas to solve various structural and drainage issues. And he looked after all the paperwork with the local council which saved me heaps of time and allowed me to focus on other issues. If you’re after a smart, creative and friendly architect with very competitive rates then John is the person you’ve been looking for.

John creates beautiful new buildings but he also gets the best out of an existing house. He didn't always tell me some of my ideas were impractical - he drew them up so I could see for myself. I appreciated his professionalism and his calm way of talking through the plans and details so that I understood what I needed to do and what he would do. I would definitely consult John House again for my next building project.

John House has consulted for me on three different apartments. He provided advice on two purchases where I needed a professional opinion on the quality of the renovation of one, and of the overall build quality for an off the plan purchase. For our third apartment, John provided the design and managed the work for a substantial refitting including a new bathroom and kitchen, reflooring the bedroom and living areas and providing a cohesive aesthetic design throughout. His attention to detail and management of tradesmen were excellent. I am very happy with the work he has provided over a ten year period.
