Leah Reynolds Architect …began as a sole practitioner in 2014 after 16 years in the architectural industry. Previous experience includes high end residential, education and commercial projects. As an experienced project architect and designer, I look to follow my passion as an advocate for the environment moving towards reducing our reliance on energy intense materials, products and living. Everyone has their own measure of what sustainability means to them. If everyone makes small changes, we can make a greater impact. This might mean better storage to be able to reuse or recycle, growing and/or preserving more food, using low VOC or no VOC products. It might be a grand gesture to the planet; or somewhere in between. 16+ years industry experience Residential + Commercial projects Architectural Services - functional analysis, site + building planning - masterplanning + staged works programs - 3D design - materials knowledge - planning + building permit applications - tender documentation + coordination - contract administration - assisting owner builders Free initial consultation and quotation Passive Design Focus Each and every site is uniquely positioned with different impacts from the surrounding natural + built environments. Designing your new home or extension should maximise the capture and use of the sun’s energy that can significantly contribute to your long-term liveability within that space with minimal impact on your design brief. Couple this with the right materials in the right location, good design and early planning in your project, passively designed spaces can also reduce the ongoing and long-term running costs. Key considerations: insulation + thermal mass access to natural light + ventilation coordination with energy modelling for beyond 6 star homes Specialised Environmental Design -permaculture design - foodscapes, edible garden design, integrating functions within the home -natural building materials (breathable buildings), locally sourced - moving towards eliminating toxins and reducing our impact on the earth -strawbale buildings (new) -outdoor living spaces are as important as the internal ones, however are often the last to be considered or built with budget restrictions. We tend to live outdoors in nicer weather which can reduce built floor area and overall construction costs. Integrating outdoor living also connects us with the environment, health + wellbeing.
