About Us

Lewis + Zwart Architecture is a Newcastle based Architectural company that was formed in 2012 by Abigail Lewis and Troy Zwart. We strive to deliver quality projects through design excellence and technical competence. We believe that social and environmental responsibility, as well as economic viability, are fundamental tenets of architecture. We have over 30 years of combined experience and have helped deliver a wide range of projects. Our residential projects have ranged from small alterations and additions to large custom designed houses and medium density multi-unit developments. We also have experience in commercial, educational, institutional and medical projects including office fit-outs, community and school libraries and community sporting facilities. In every project, we seek to foster a culture of integrity, quality and creativity. We hold these values in high regard as we deliver our clients’ projects with imagination and flair.

We enlisted the help of Lewis and Zwart Architecture to renovate our home. We wanted the original house to be more open and be more accessible to the backyard. We also wanted the design and build to be broken into 2 stages which could be done a few years apart. Troy and Abigail did a great job designing a functional and beautiful renovation, they handled everything including the design, approval process and the project management. Their design has allowed us to renovate the back half of our home which included the kitchen area, laundry and deck. Their initial design also allows us to keep a cohesive design throughout if we decide to go ahead with the 2nd stage in the future. We recommend Lewis and Zwarts Architecture, they do a great job! We have a home which is full of natural light, has a great flow between the inside and out and is functional.

Exceptional outcome in matching our vision to a budget. Troy an Abigail have a way of explaining the process from concept design to developed design that makes you feel in control while being heard. Communication via email and phone was of a consistently high standard from start to finish.

It was an absolute pleasure working with Troy and Abigail. Troy carefully listened and used our input from first design through to the completed project. This was done in a in a truly collaborative way, with both us the clients, and the builder. The house functions incredibly efficiently environmentally in spite of our south facing and narrow frontage. Every view and aspect has framed beautifully and adds pleasure to each and everyday. We fall asleep watching the stars and appreciate way the sea breeze has been fully utilised to cool the house. We have loved entertaining our friends and family in our delightful new home.
