About Us

Named after the Māori word for ‘to sit, to dwell’, Noho Architecture takes a holistic and considered approach to residential design. We create comfortable and healing homes that are resource and energy efficient, and we love working with clients to turn houses into dream homes. Noho Architecture was founded by Justine Money, a British-Maori-Australian Architect who brings a strong cultural sensibility to the practice. This translates into working very collaboratively with other partners across the various design and building phases – including master builders, surveyors, engineers and other consultants – to create homes that cohesively intertwine architecture, interiors and landscape in an environmentally sensitive way.

We can't rate Justine's design highly enough. Our house was a 1980s project home badly in need of an update and some future proofing for our 80+ year old mother. The brief was to do a partial renovation and extend the back of the house. Justine was very thorough with the plans and drawings, always mindful of our budget, our needs and what we wanted to achieve. She guided us throughout the whole process, from the council approvals to helping and suggesting the finishes through to completion. The partial reno and extension was well thought out and did not compromise the architectural design of the original house. Justine was such a pleasure to work with. We're very happy and highly recommend her.

Working with Justine and the team at NOHO Architecture has been a seamless and enjoyable experience for us. As builders it is nice to work with an Architect with a clear vision but also one that can make calculated changes along the way when unforeseen challenges come to light throughout the build. Great style, great knowledge and a great attitude, all resulting in a fantastic final product.

I cannot recommend noho architecture highly enough! For a complete novice embarking on their first home renovation project, Justine shared her advice and experiences freely and was amazingly patient with my constant questions. I really felt that we just clicked on our first meeting and our relationship built from there. Justine and her team guided my husband and I from concept design through to the DA application. Nothing was too much trouble and to be honest, I really felt that I was listened which was my chief concern when engaging an Architect who I thought may be more interested in the 'design' than what I actually wanted. Justine also engaged her contacts in the building industry early on so we had a solid understanding of what was possible within our fairly limited budget. I never felt our budget was going to blow out and Justine still managed to design in our must have's. I can't thank Justine and her team for making this such a smooth and easy experience and I look forward to showing off the final result with a glass of bubbly!

I would highly recommend Justine Money from Noho Architecture. As a builder I worked on one of her recent projects in Manly. Justine’s design was perfect to maximise floor space and build a beautiful spacious house on a small block. Any changes that were made to design or materials happened quickly and fluently, the whole process of working with Justine was great and definitely recommend using Noho Architecture for your next project.

Justine is a no nonsense architect who genuinely wants the best project outcome, not for herself but for the owner and also thinking of the builder! She has a great design sense. She is receptive to input by the builder (which is often not the case with architects) which helps keep the project on time and within budget. A great person to work with.

I have worked collaboratively with Justine on a various of projects over a number of years. I have always been impressed by her design strengths and attention to detail. This was particularly apparent on her handling of the Don Street extension. A seemingly small extension managed to change the whole dynamic of the house, creating a family hub that opens onto the back garden. The detailed resolution of the joinery and the spaces reflects the care I see in all of Justines work..

Bought a property with a pretty clear vision of what I wanted to do with it but Justine improved on this and made the final product look ten times better than I ever imaged. She was there with ideas and examples every step of the way to guide myself and the builder (that she helped me choose) right to the end. If I ever do another house she will definitely be the first person I call.

Justine provided design concepts that we hadn't even considered for our kitchen/ living area renovation. We were instantly on board with Justine's contemporary design that maximised our space and opened up the areas involved. Justine also advised us on materials and colour schemes. We are very happy with pure result and feel that the design is far more open and grand than we had originally envisioned fort our space. Justine was always available, interested and respectful of our needs and ideas. Thank you Justine.

Justine has just completed a kitchen renovation (which included increasing the size of the room by 100%) with the building of an additional sun room of my old Terrace house. The outcome that she has achieved was even better than my expectation. The design and flow of the room is fantastic, the small details that she included make such a big difference. She also looked after project management of the job which ensured the whole process was unstressful as she was on top of everything. Would be happy to recommend her as would be an asset to anyone's project.
