Embarking on our house renovation with Pepyn Nolet has been a uniquely rewarding journey. His professional prowess blended with a personal touch has transformed our vision into an evolving reality.
We engaged with Pepyn from very early stage of the housing project - even before the actual house purchase! His advice at the house viewing & purchase stage helped us understanding the possibilities of each property which lead to a final decision.
I have to say our vision with the house we ended up buying wasn’t completely conventional, and the challenges of an old house are just endless. Through out the design and building stages, Pepyn’s meticulous attention to detail and profound design sense shaped our final designs unique whilst beautiful. He helped us navigating complex decisions and trade-offs with ease, ensuring our style and needs are at the forefront. His open communication and responsiveness made the renovation journey as smooth and less daunting as possible, even amid unavoidable delays and challenges from all sorts of contractors / regulation etc. Working with Pepyn was more than a good professional experience, but more a journey filled with trust, fun, creativity and genuine care.
We wholeheartedly recommend Pepyn Nolet for anyone aspiring to bring their dream space to life. Thank you, Pepyn, for your unparalleled support and guidance!

When we bought our property, we had already decided a major refurbishment was in order. Importantly, we wanted to convert part of the house in an office, where we could work from home. The area we had in mind had a beautiful view on the garden, but was used as a bathroom and hallway. The hallway led to a staircase, climbing to a room above the kitchen, an ideal place for the heating system and for storage. Pepyn was able to see the possibilities and made some drastic changes in the design that completely altered the nature of the space. What felt like a cave before now feels like an indoor balcony. In close harmony with the builders part of the first floor was removed to enlarge the space and let light come down from the roof window above. The fixed staircase was replaced by a mobile one, that most of the time hangs in the space as a modern decoration, only to be lowered in the few instance that we need to be in the room above. The wall, now 5 m high, has turned into a bookcase, all of the books cleverly within reach thanks to the staircase. The result is a house with a unique and functional design that we are proud of, and enjoy, every day.

We approached Pepyn to help us design and develop our new-build dream home on a plot of family land abroad. Throughout the process, his strong design instinct combined with a practical approach to the building process has impressed us deeply. This has resulted in an incredibly well-crafted home that takes into consideration everything we asked for, and more.
From our initial briefing discussion onwards, Pepyn made our “once in a lifetime” journey of building a house straightforward and enjoyable. He expertly explained and talked us through every aspect of the design and building process, and has calmly and professionally handled all communication with the authorities and builders, keeping us informed along the way.
We enjoy our home every day: it is such a pleasure to live in – and to just be in – a house where every detail has been carefully considered, and where thing “just work”. We really cannot recommend Pepyn highly enough.

When we bought our Victorian property, we knew a major refurbishment was in order... Not only did the bathroom and kitchen need substantial updating, we also had to deal with pre-existing subsidence that had affected all three floors of the house. This meant that we had to replace the staircase as well as the complete roof structure.
Pepyn’s clever designs, and his effective dealings with the builders, addressed these considerable challenges within budget and on time. The result is a house with a unique and functional design that we benefit from, and enjoy, every day. The work is simply of very high quality. The staircase is new and contemporary yet styled in such a way that it sits nicely in harmony with the rest of the house. The reconfigured bathroom has become more spacious and is highly functional. An inventive rooflight solution allows the space to be filled with natural light, something we enjoy each and every morning!

Pepyn is an amazing, highly experienced architect who guided us through our renovation from start to finish with impressive results.
We bought a house in mid-2019, knowing it needed some work. When Pepyn first visited, we weren’t sure whether we would only reorganise the lower ground floor with the dark kitchen, and were thinking about a rear extension. We also thought we could repaint the rest of the house and do the larger work such as renovating bathrooms later. He presented us with a variety of different design options and scopes and price points, illustrating one of them with a 3D cardboard model. We discussed the trade-offs and eventually decided that what we needed was not an extension but a way to bring more light into the lower level, but also that once we redid the electricals and the plumbing, it made more sense to proceed with renovating the whole house at once rather than in steps.
From our first meeting, Pepyn was very good at identifying our needs and brainstorming on what we wanted out of each part of the house and how we would live in it. That is what led to eliminating the idea of the rear extension, but rather opening up a double height space that would bring in a lot of light but also a bit of “wow factor” as we see the light fixture and the rear window from the front door. He proposed to remove the outside stairs that were cutting light and brought the kitchen to the front of the house, which maximizes morning light. For instance, in suggesting we move one bathroom away from a landing that had a huge window and placing a mini office with a glass screen and pull-out door, he brought in a lot more light into the dark hallway while working with the existing fabric of the house. He was very good at taking us through what the whole construction process would look like and what we should expect.
At the design stage, he really helped us refine what we wanted. In the bedroom, we wanted an en-suite and a dressing room but had to deal with limited space, and he proposed a design solution that makes movement through the space so efficient but also looks fantastic and fits everything we need. He was as engaged on the big picture as he was on discussing how much clothes rail, how many drawers were needed and their depth, where the mirror and tie rack had to fit, and how the lighting should feel. In the kitchen, he helped create a big and practical space with a separate pantry while making room for a breakfast nook. He helped us through the selection of various less mainstream materials - from the green terrazzo, to the Senso resin floor to the Richlite countertops and the marble backsplash and tabletop, where he paid attention to how each piece should be cut given the veining, and did extensive work on the two-part wine cellar cooler and the design it required. Pepyn designed the kitchen from scratch, reducing our costs by avoiding the use of a kitchen company. He also helped us with many interior decoration decisions, from the wall colours and how to match door colours, all the way to curtains and some furniture decisions.
He prepared extensive instructions - I think the drawings and detailed instructions on the bill of materials ran to 150 pages - and helped us select a contractor to provide a fixed price quote. The detailed instructions were great because it was clear that some contractors were a bit out of their depth and preferred providing ballpark figures rather than costing all the elements, while two contractors were able to deal at that level, and one clearly had superior skill and attention to detail. In getting to a contract, he was also heavily involved in which alternatives would save on costs, and what should not be compromised.
Pepyn helped us to find an excellent contractor, MH Costa. Pepyn was leading the communications with them throughout the process. We would know what was going on, but he was in charge of approving everything and making sure that what got built was exactly what was in the plans. During the building works, Pepyn visited regularly to oversee the progress. The contractor was truly outstanding, but it was such a relief to have Pepyn with us to have the technical discussions with them and liaise to achieve the best outcomes.
Throughout the process, Pepyn has been an excellent communicator, responding swiftly to queries and taking his time to explain things to us, making the overall experience stress-free for us. We have now been living in the house for about 18 months since the end of the renovations and the end result is so more than we could ever have hoped for. It looks fantastic, but it is also designed in such a way that we end up using the whole house, and we think it will continue ageing well.
We could not recommend Pepyn more strongly!

I worked with Pepyn from Studio Nolet on a project in Stockwell, London in 2020. The project started during the pandemic so certainly not normal circumstances for anyone involved. I found Pepyn to be very professional and he took a very hands on approach when issues arose. Something I appreciated as a project manager for the main contractor (MH Costa), particularly in the midst of a nationwide lockdown.
The design package was clear, concise and was provided along with a full specification which made ordering very simple for our procurement team. The finished house looks amazing and we are very proud to have worked on the project.
I hope to work with Pepyn and Studio Nolet again in the near future.
