Trace Studio Architects

I had the pleasure of working with David from Trace Studios in the first half of 2019. We were renovating a very dilapidated Queenslander in New Farm that needed lots of love and attention and turned to David to give it new life. We were on a tight budget and David worked hard to ensure we got maximum value for our rental property from the funds available. He listened carefully to understand the brief, came up with lots of innovative ideas, liaised closely with our builder and constantly communicated with us when any issues arose. I have worked with other architects before but was impressed with how mindful David was to stay within budget and his ability to think of cost effective alternatives. His colour ideas and finishes for the house were amazing and he has great taste to guide his clients. He takes the time to consider things and isn’t in a rush to tick items off a list and move onto the next task. David wants to ensure that his solutions are effective and are sympathetic to the environment. From my experience, David works well with builders and quietly gets his point across to deliver excellent outcomes for his clients. I wholeheartedly recommend David from Trace Studios and am only sad that I don’t have another project at the moment to employ his talents.

David designed a concept master plan to help us get clarity in what we need to do for our house in the future. He really listened to us and was able to provide innovative ideas and solutions to our problems. His drawings are beautiful. We look forward to implementing his ideas as we progress bit by bit with our midcentury home restoration.

Wendy was a pleasure to deal with on our renovation project. She was always ready to listen to our ideas and provided some great concepts for our consideration. The final design that Wendy developed for us complemented the design of our existing house very nicely and provided much needed additional space. Wendy and Trace Studio have helped us realise a long held dream to renovate our family home. They helped us refine our design ideas as well as overseeing the documentation and tendering process right through to construction. Compared to prior renovations this one was stress free because Wendy anticipated design and cost challenges and thought of creative solutions before we began. Wendy/Trace Studio took the time to understand the style and feel we wanted our home to have. They also gave us feedback and alternate ideas we hadn't considered but complimented the aesthetic we hoped to achieve. Wendy's help with choosing finishes and how to use them was invaluable. Definitely a great sounding board with the tricky decisions of tiles, light fittings, handles, cabinetry, paint products for differing timbers etc. Because of Wendy's involvement in selecting builders/trades we had no major concerns with trades during our build. There will always be some issues that pop up on any building job in our experience but we only had very minor things occur and these were always resolved quickly and professionally due to Wendy's great working relationship with our builder and subcontractors. Wendy has helped us revitalise a neglected 70's style house into the family home we've always wanted. We'd recommend Trace Studio to anyone looking for help with building or renovating a family home.
