Since I heard the news this morning of the passing of Gert, I can’t get it out of my mind – the thought that he knew something most of us don’t. You see… he walked around every day being happy. ‘Just happy. This man did not waste energy on negative thoughts or emotions. It was as if each day was precious – because it was. He must have instinctively known this. So what did he do with his emotions? He made drawings and paintings. Boy, did he! Imagery and colors that insisted to be looked at…one could never ignore them. When I first met his wife Pam, I thought her art was the most colorful, vibrant and happy pieces I’d ever seen…until I saw Gert’s work.
