Excellent experience dealing with John Damant at Arcologic Design. Very patient at our meetings, great ideas for the type of building we wanted and just really good all round advice. We have been in the house for 6 months now and very happy with the result. Also, very pleased with how the house performs energy wise.

We found John Damant from Arcological Design to be inspiring in his approach to house design. After we submitted our ideas to him, he presented us with a unique design which made the most of our block position and use of weather elements to create an inspiring, eco-friendly, energy efficient house whilst still taking advantage of the breath-taking west facing views. John has always been accommodating to any requests and continued to assist us throughout the build and beyond. John has created a unique building that we are proud to call our home.

Our new solar passive home was completed in February 2015 and we have been extremely happy with how it has turned out. Thanks to Arcologic Design and John Damant for designing us our dream home. John listened to our wish list carefully and came up with something that fits both our personalities. The project went well and when necessary John spoke to our builder who liaised with him from time to time to clarify any issues that arose. Aesthetically the house is very pleasing and although we had to change the building materials and design to get across the energy rating hurdles what we ended up with was very pleasing. Every day we feel like we are living in the bush but are in reality living In a beautifully designed home. . We are so happy in this house it feels right for us and a big thank you for such a clever design to John Damant and the team at Arcologic Design.

John Damant from Arcologic Design provided an excellent service throughout the design phase of our home. We found his advice to be very relevant in discussing our requirements which transpired into a design that ticked all our boxes. We wanted a family home that would preform well from an environmental aspect and feel spacious with a large amount of glazing overlooking the garden. We have now been living in the house for 9 months and are thoroughly happy with the end product. The house performs exceptionally well in both Summer and Winter with minimal requirement for cooling or heating. We look forward to building another house in the next 5 to 10 years and hopefully engage John on the next project.

Having grown up in the hills the importance of living in harmony with the natural environment has always been important to me. John Damant from Arcologic was able to bring all the essential elements of solar passive design, natural materials, cooling breezes plus abundant natural light together in a very modern design to suit a beach lifestyle. Not to mention accommodating 3 growing children, a large trampoline, an Australian Shepherd, chickens and a frog pond on an oddly shaped blocked within very restrictive Council guidelines! The design was adapted a number of times in response to Council guideline changes and neighbours comments but throughout the process John remained calm and determined and each design was an improvement on the last. The result is a very unique home which utilizes each sqaure metre of the block to maximum advantage. The central court creates a green oasis viewed from every room while also acting as a 'solar chimney' by allowing hot air to escape and cooling breezes to pass throughout the home. Other unique features include a 'green roof' for growing herbs and vegetables within easy access to the kitchen and cool room while having the added benefits of providing insulation, assisting with stormwater run off, improving air quality, preventing excess heat generation, fire retardation, reduced EMR and noise. Rammed limestone feature walls blend with the coastal environment and porcelain tiles provide thermal mass to the north. Skylights in the south bathrooms ensure adequate airflow for ventilation and UV rays for natural disinfection. John is genuinely passionate about living in harmony with the environment and harnessing our natural resources to create homes that are not only sustainable, healthy and energy efficient but attractive as well. If all new homes were designed in line with the principles applied by Arcologic we would be creating far more sustainable and attractive suburbs. In the words of Mahatma Gandhi "You must be the change you wish to see in the world" and Arcologic makes that change easy when choosing to build a new home. I strongly recommend Arcologic as a design service for those wishing to make positive change to the way we build and live in Perth.

This is the second house that John has designed for us. It gets better every time. This time was more of a challenge as it was a long narrow sloping block, we wanted a high energy efficiency rating and specific layout to achieve separate zones for us and university going kids. Thanks to John's expertise we have a wonderful, light filled, spacious home with a 7 star energy rating. Its feels like we are living in a luxury resort. I would highly recommend John and would not hesitate to use his talent and skills if we ever decide to build again.

We stumbled upon Arcologic Design by chance and we are so grateful that we did. After our first meeting with John Damant we knew we had the perfect architect for our difficult and challenging project. John was able to take the ideas we had in our heads, create a design that included everything on our wish list and then added in his touch (the real WOW factor) which resulted in a beautiful home. The canvas we gave John was a small steep sloping inner city block with amazing views. The brief included a heavy reliance on natural products, a low carbon footprint, a rain water tank and no air conditioning. Remarkably John was able to achieve this and within budget. Throughout the project John has been there to help and guide us. His instinct is uncanny and his professionalism exemplary. We highly recommend John Damant and Arcologic Design. Without them our dream home would still be just that - a dream.
