With experience in contemporary design, heritage properties, multi-dwelling and rural estates, we are the premium yet cost-sensitive choice for your housing project, be it a bespoke new home design or extensive alteration/addition. With offices conveniently located in Sydney’s Parramatta and Five Dock, we are able to design projects anywhere in Australia. Our services can include managing every step of the approvals process including producing and sourcing all necessary documentation for your project (including concept designs, 3D renders, plans) ensuring a quick and hassle-free application. We are fully compliant with the Building Codes of Australia (BCA) and General Housing Codes, BASIX certification requirements and are equipped to design CDC (complying development - privately certified) projects. Our work observes both long-established and new design philosophies including Vastu Shastra (Indian Architectural Science*), Feng Shui (Harmony & Balance), Chiaroscuro (Shadow & Light) and Passive Design (Energy Efficiency). In 2016 we approached Astute Architectural Drafting and Design to help us design our dream house using the existing building and extend on it to accommodate our growing family. We had a rough idea of what we wanted and needed and they took it all on board and came back to us with three fabulous designs, all had what we wanted but the one we chose definitely stood out. The attention to detail and knowledge of different products available including how to maximise our 'green print' was amazing. Even now 3 years later they still remembers us and continues to help us finalise our build. We had nothing but issues on our Battle-axe land not to mention it had the highest Bush fire Rating of BAL-FZ. Chris and his team were able to provide us a custom house design which was accepted by the Council withing 8 weeks of the DA submission with a very insignificant minor change. Chris had plan of attack on how he would write up SEE to support the arguments in the design. We found him extremely professional and pleasure to deal with. I have no hesitation recommending Chris and look forward to work with him in the future.

We initially spoke to Astute Architectural Drafting regarding a new house design, Chris's enthusiasm, ideas, "green" thinking and general attitude were the key factors in us choosing him to put the design together. This is our first attempt at building a house so his honesty and simple explanations helped a lot. The next major milestone was the first design that Chris put together. Our first responses were "wow", Chris managed to turn our ideas into a spectacular looking house that included all our requirements and more. Everyone who have shown the design since then also has that same first impression. Since that time, there have been a few iterations, generally just minor adjustments. Chris has always responded to our questions and made changes promptly but still adding the expertise needed when our ideas were not practical. Chris has also provided any additional information required for the DA process promptly as needed. All in all, it has been a very successful project to this point, I fully recommend Astute Architectural Drafting. Regards Ross

Chris has assisted us with the complete redesign and drawings of our home in North Curl Curl. We had originally expected Chris to simply put our ideas and modification on to paper to assist us with our Development Application. However, Chris has done so much more and if the designs are anything to go by we should end up with a fantastic new home. I have very strong ideas and what was great about working with Chris is that he very tactfully challenged some of my ideas and introduced alternatives that were very cleverly thought and most worthy of consideration. It would have been very easy for Chris to simply have drawn what I wanted and I really admire his enthusiasm and commitment to ensure that we achieve the best result. In addition to completing the drawings Chris has willingly liaised with the building consultant, town planner, interior designer and landscaper. Chris has become a key player in our project team and I would be very happy to recommend him to others.

We contacted Chris at Astute Architectural Drafting to assist us with the design and drafting of a new Duplex on our current property in Ermington. The property site had it’s challenges with sloping features and an aerial easement. We asked Chris to further develop our ideas that would suit our budget and lifestyle. He incorporated a split level design that included a high ceiling in the living areas, something that we hadn't expected and is one of the outstanding features of this atypical design. We found Chris easy to work with at all times, he always listened to all ideas as well as inputting his own improvements and keeping the design realistic and practical. The end result was exactly what we had wanted. Chris also helped us through the Development Application process with Council using his past knowledge. He also has professional contacts within the industry so that, when we requested, we could use these whenever necessary. This helped us immensely as we had no past experience with building, he became an adviser for the project as well as the designer. Chris was thorough and understood what we desired, was always available, approachable and very friendly, Enthusiastic and very passionate and nothing was too hard. Came to our home multiple times to explain and ensure we were all on the same page with drawings. Chris actioned architectural drawings and basix. Project has not yet started.
