Nik seemed knowledgeable, nice and creative when we first met him. During the process however he was extremely slow to respond and complete work (often taking several days or weeks to respond even when we were always prompt responding to him ), did not seem to have eye for details when creating and responding to council queries (missed labels on council plans even when expressly requested by council planner) about submitted plans and we felt missed key requirements in our planning submission which delayed the process. We understand we worked with Nik during COVID however we did not feel we were prioritized and would not recommend him. He did provide a small discount due to one delay

I could not recommend Nik and his team at Attic highly enough. From the beginning to the end of my renovation Nik proved to have many attributes. He was professional and helpful as well as being extremely courteous, friendly and considerate. I had never carried out such a big project before but Nik was always happy to patiently explain things I didn't understand and always made time for me, despite having many other clients. Tamsyn too was so obliging and efficient and a great asset to Attic. If only more businesses were like this! If I ever attempt another building venture I would not hesitate employing Nik again. He deserves a glowing reputation for a business he works hard for and is proud of.

We worked with Nik and the team on a residential extension in the Inner North in Melbourne, and we couldn't be happier with the outcome. Nik took our ideas, used them and persuaded us to make some changes, and we're SO glad He did. We now live in house that is comfortable, timeless in design (but with a lot of WOW), easy to keep clean, and will sell well (one day). From the very first minute of working with Nik Valentine at Attic Building Design, my wife and I were thrilled to have him on board to build our new home. Every dealing we had along the way showed Nik to be innovative, creative, thoughtful, considerate, flexible and above all, helpful. We presented some bold ideas we had in mind to Nik and he was perfect in either making them happen or suggesting alternatives we had never suggested that far surpassed anything we could envisage. He was also very lateral and considered in making suggestions that would save us costs along the way. Throughout the whole process, Nik went out of his way to meet with us at hours that were convenient for us but wouldn’t have been for him as well as accommodating our requests and queries along the way, never once making us feel stupid for asking what must’ve been inane questions. We know we must’ve been inconvenient with our location and requests at times but you never would’ve known it from Nik who was always more than happy to oblige. I cannot recommend Nik highly enough as above all his strengths, he always made us feel that we as the client deserved the best possible result and experience and he certainly delivered that.

Nik & Tamsin were great to deal with. Very professional and responsive. Nik had some great ideas for our property and the quoted price for design services was very reasonable.
