Paul Pritchard Landscapes
Pond Construction Services in Burwood, Victoria
Average rating: 5 out of 5 stars6November,2016
“Paul Pritchard Landscapes (PPL) were thoroughly professional and enjoyable to engage with both in the design and planning of the landscaping and throughout the 4 weeks of the project construction. They took our backyard from a very harsh, stale area to an area that now can be enjoyed by a young family who likes to host impromptu drinks and dinners regularly. Their attention to detail was terrific and their professionalism and courtesy whilst onsite was the best we have experienced from a trades person. They arrived when they said they would and left the 'construction site' neat and safe throughout the 4 weeks. The one time they needed to requote due to an unforeseen issue (an unbelievable amount of concrete underground that needed to be removed) they fully communicated and explained the issue and what additional cost or alternatives were available. Equally, when an area of the landscaping was done more efficiently then quoted, an adjustment was made - this is not something we could have identified and occurred because PPL told us. If you are thinking about landscaping, use PPL you will not be disappointed.”
International Garden Concepts

“Alan, from International Garden Concepts, was employed to renovate an out-of-control bamboo forest, to usefully dispose of a tonne of ugly brown river pebbles, and to create two very low maintenance gardens: one, a dry temperate rain forest strip along a two metre high wooden boundary fence, and two, a serene, succulents’ garden, with a cool and quiet presence, surrounded by the rain forest. Both to be enjoyed year round. As well, Alan was charged with creating a third, formal garden, which would be in public view, by taking a brackish pond, infested with philodendron plants and weeds, and surrounded by a mixture of weeds and volunteer seedlings from previous gardening attempts, into a contemplative, reflecting pond with calming notes of running water, in the midst of a delicate oriental garden. All this to be done to a very restrictive budget on a small suburban block. Alan was happy to have as many consultations regarding design and budget, and World Cup Rugby, as were required to finalise the project. Alan provided all the drawings and design and budget information that was necessary. In fact, Alan went over and above all my expectations regarding design and budget for these gardens. His advice proved to be invaluable in all instances and strong, constructive discussion on all matters was expected. With Alan’s trusted and very friendly team, the work was commenced and completed as scheduled. Materials supplied were within budget and running costs were always open for discussion. Alan was always very frugal with the budget and very generous with the supply of plants and materials. His knowledge of, and selection of, plants for the formal garden was excellent. The garden’s design with a lovely reflecting pond, beautiful plants and trees, including lighting and irrigation, meets and exceeds the original brief. As a bonus, Alan skilfully pruned a tall (at least 4 metres high) hedge of Michalia trees, and some overhanging neighbouring tree branches. And his team enthusiastically moved and stacked some 750 concrete bricks from front of house to back yard. Unlike my experiences with other contractors, Alan was very transparent in his actions and did not regard over-ordered or surplus materials as his to remove from the site. He and his team were always on time, or called to advise of any delay. He worked late and worked extra time if required. He and his team had a great repore, and worked hard and constructively, together. And when asked, they would do the extra bit, without needing a variation to be submitted. Thanks Alan, you did a great job, and ticked all the boxes. We are looking forward to a visit from you.”

Outdoor Creations

“We decided to put a pool in our backyard and started getting quotes from several pool builders. They had given us some ideas of how the pool could be but I was not satisfied it could work for us. We had limited space and issues with easements. The lightbulb moment for us was when I looked at the yard and thought "This could turn into a real mess. Let's not put a pool in, let's create an outdoor area with a pool". So off we to the Pool Show and spoke to some landscape companies before we came across David from Outdoor Creations. We instantly got a good feeling and felt that David understood us. We booked him to come and see us. When David came to our house, he humoured me for a few moments as I told him my ideas before he discussed what we should do. "Move the fern to one corner and create a fish pond underneath. Render the walls in the pergola to make it look like an outdoor room. Create the same flooring (travertine) in the pergola and around the pool so the area flows as one. Place the pool close to the fence with some room for a narrow garden bed and create a nice water feature at the far corner of the pool". And that is basically what we did. We employed Outdoor Creations to design and manage the project. They sourced the pool builder and landscape company, which both were excellent. Outdoor Creations handled all the issues that we came across with regulations and easements etc., even while we were overseas. If we were handling this ourselves, I would have given up very quickly. David helped us in all areas of selecting materials and colours while also encouraging us to have our input. The result is a perfectly balanced and functional outdoor area and pool that impresses everyone that visits. The basketball court, spa and back fence was part 2 of the project and fits in perfectly. We feel like we are living in a resort. Most importantly, we do not have anything that we would change. I would recommend to anyone using Outdoor Creations because for us it was a very smart decision. They from overcame hurdles that would have stopped me from continuing and made sure there were no costly mistakes made (like putting the pool in the wrong place). The value they have added to our property is far more than the cost of using them.”

“My husband had been searching in the local papers for landscapers, and we’d had a few around to quote but had not been impressed. I had come across Houzz and decided to see if we could use it to find gardens that inspired us and see who created them. That’s how we found Ben Carter and we’re so glad we did. We were looking to re-landscape the front garden of our home in McKinnon. It came with a rose garden that had been run down by years of neglectful tenants. We wanted to start over completely. He was so excited that we wanted a native garden and understood that we were after something low maintenance. He got straight to work on a plan which was done within a day or two. The garden itself was completed within just a few weeks, and within our original budget (the low end of the indicated range). Ultimately we added to the plan: we needed a new driveway now, not later, and Ben helped us select the perfect exposed aggregate for it. We also decided that this was the time to set up a rainwater tank, and Ben advised us on size and a colour that ties in with the house and garden. We also realised we needed something to act as a screen outside our bedroom window and he sourced us a beautiful one, from Entanglements whose work I loved, on sale no less. He coordinated professionally with our plumber and identified an excellent tradie to lay the exposed aggregate driveway. And the result? The plants, trees, woodchips, pebbles and rocks he selected (in consultation) tie in with the bricks of our house and garden wall as well as the tree on the verge. We have a sitting area from which to admire the natural features, and to listen to the water in the frog pond he set up at our daughter’s request. In the end, we insisted that he display a sign so people would know who created our garden. We look forward to working with him again in the future. That’s the highest recommendation we can provide.”

“Working with Mark and Matt to create our entire garden was the best decision we made. The team at The Landscape Department are professional, friendly, prompt and produce exceptional results. We already had a design for our garden, but both Mark and Matt added in their own suggestions to really complete the entire look. Even in the weeks post completion, they pop in to check everything is going well, and always respond to any queries you may have. We have no hesitation recommending The Landscape Department to anyone who needs any type of landscaping done- these guys are the best, you won't regret it!”
