Having just completed two renovations on other properties ourselves, placing the project in the hands of Tom was the best decision ever. “To whom it concerns We are opening a real estate office on October 1st 2013 and have leased a premises previoulsy occupied by a dress shop. While we felt anyone (including us) could easily design a 108m2 real estate office, nevertheless we engaged the services of Paul Hindes at Soul Space design. Paul had previously designed a cafe for us in 2006. The brief was fairly simple: 1. Create a real estate office with a point of difference to the other 8 in the town 2. The total cost needs to be a quarter of the cost of similar size refits. So like $20,000 rather than $80,000 Paul presented quite a few options, each with its own merits, however the final design chosen is genius. Everyone from the builder, to the electrician, even the floor covering man have commented on the open design, with no doors, yet segregated areas, The air conditioning man said the use of cut-away spaces in walls will save $$ thousands. Paul's use of an outdoor James Hardie product for a feature wall and matching reception desk will be the talk of the town in both functional, and visible aspects. A plant-a-box 3 metres long will also be unique. We have phoned Paul several times for on the spot advice to alter sizes and location of internal walls, and he has always obliged promptly and with a great attitide. He strives in every way to make his clients successful. The strict Richardson & Wrench franchise group are also wrapped with the service of Soulspace. “We had Rebecca from May Tree Studios discuss our existing and rather boring home with a view to give it more street appeal without spending a fortune and to make some alterations to the interior. We were more than delighted with the concept drawings provided following our discussion. We have now completed the work and the home is transformed to unrecognisable (one visitor drove right past). Recently a regular passer-by commented that our home is now the best in the street - it was easily the least attractive in our street previously. Together with the concept drawings, Rebecca also provided details of colours that are modern and very attractive, yet blend well with existing original features. I did not think that would be possible. We are a building company so we see a lot of home designs. “After coming to the conclusion that we needed an outdoor entertainment area, we contacted Dion and others to discuss our options. All the other people offered to come to our house to provide a free quote and consultation. Dion was the only one that charged for this service. After initially baulking at the price, we reluctantly decided to proceed with his consultation fee. We were quite nervous in paying this amount because we did not know what value Dion would provide. Even on the day that Dion was to arrive, we still had doubts whether this was the right thing to do - but we decided to have an open mind. Dion not only arrived on time but he actually talked to us and wanted to get a feel for what we did in the different parts of the house. Yes his brief was that we needed an outdoor entertainment area, but within 20 minutes of Dion's consultation, he was challenging us on that notion. His challenging questions and realistic answers shed new light on what we thought we wanted. The easy path that Dion could have taken was to agree with what we wanted. If we went down that path, Dion would have been happy but after living with the outdoor entertainment area, we would not have been. Dion instead really listened to our needs and presented ideas that went to the heart of what we wanted. His ideas were fantastic and the consultation fee was, in our eyes, a small price compared to the value that he provided. If you have any doubts on the value of this fee for service, don't. You will be amazed on what he delivers. By the way, the other people who supplied the free quotes spent as little time as they could with us and did not provide any ideas on the solution that we actually wanted.”
