We have heard many horror stories about renovating but thankfully we were pleasantly surprised.
From the beginning of our renovation,Cam Wilkie and the team at Cambuild were always available, listened to us and made us feel part of the team .Our hopes were very high and we are delighted with the end product - our home.
Due to Cambuild's creativity, enthusiasm, extensive product knowledge and attention to detail they were able to transform a simple house into a functional, family friendly home which now perfectly fits our lifestyle and where we will create many wonderful memories with our family and friends.
Thank you Cam and Cambuild.
We would certainly recommend Cambuild to anyone - we already have.

We've used Cambuild twice now, both times for renovations of our homes. We have been delighted with the professional, personalised service and design concepts which are always exceptional.

Sick of Cambuild RUBBISH!!!
•Requested another 9% on top of fixed contract price early in build process. We seemed to be on a go slow when this was declined.
•Quoted time to build - 14 calender months. Contract signed - 19 calender months.
Actual build time 31 months. Build incomplete at handover. Not surprisingly all the problems were due to other parties.
•Refused to pay contracted liquidated damages for time “blow out”.
•Told that build would not be completed unless additional $60 000 paid.
•Poor communication. Seemed reticent to include wife in conversations. Only found out about problems on site well after the fact.
•High staff turnover. We had multiple site managers come and go without being told. One of our site manager’s we first met as the company receptionist, another was [manager]'’s mother.
•There appeared to be poor control of trades, with trades not completing work.
•Even after being forced to pay additional cost to finish the project it was handed over incomplete with a promise to return quickly to finish. We waited over a year to have a toilet handrail to be installed and paint touch-up’s to be done, over a year and a half for window fly screen install and tiling issues. Two years for scratched glass replacement. Showed no interest in actually solving problems. Site manager seemed to have no authority to deal with finishing items and [manager] seemed disinclined to complete the job. It seems they have paid more attention to building a website than building houses ……. or finishing them.
•In retrospect we should never have agreed to allow the builder to use our house as promotional material at time of initial contract signing. Only after the project had been completed to our satisfaction and as a separate contract item should be standard.

Comment from Cambuild:
Thank you for your valuable feedback. I am more than happy to speak with you personally about your experience, however I feel that it’s important to address your concerns in the forum where you have raised them, particularly as you have made some serious allegations that are factually inaccurate.
I’m genuinely sorry that you had a bad experience. We’ve been in business for 20 years and get almost all of our work from referrals and recommendations by previous clients, some have built with us multiple times. However, while we strive to ensure that our clients only have positive interactions with us, we understand that there will be rare occasions where the relationship isn’t what we’d like it to be.
Obviously there are two sides to every story and while you are free to voice your version (as you have done in your review) we have a very different memory of building your home. It is worth noting that your Architect prepared all contract documentation and controlled the tender process, including nominating your preferred suppliers, who we were contractually bound to use along with the associated costs.
We are a family business who genuinely value our relationships with our clients. In fact, my late Father was a builder and my parents operated their own successful building company for over 30 years. I’m always appreciative of the fact that they have always offered their assistance and expertise when required, as they have a wealth of knowledge to share.
Our Supervisors are fully qualified and stay will our projects until handover has occurred, and then as required. Leading up to handover our Client Liaison Officer coordinates any finishing items, while communicating with our clients, trades, architect, builder and supervisor as required. We don’t actually have a company Receptionist, rather a small team of staff who all answer the phones as well as attend to their individual roles.
We believe, where possible, that it’s best to meet with all parties to the contract, in your case husband and wife, however we understand that at times it is difficult to get everyone in the same place at the same time. When this isn’t an option, throughout the duration of the contract, our preference is to deal with one main point-of-contact to communicate and discuss any issues (usually the wife in our experience), then let both parties chat to each other before returning to us with their desired outcome. Having said that, we are always open to speaking with all of our clients, but from our experience, having one main point of contact helps to avoid confusion.
The professional photos taken of your home prior to handover show a stunning completed home. Unfortunately, sometimes there are items that need to be attended to after handover has occurred, however the house was habitable and ‘Practically Complete’ as per the contract.
We are at all times happy to chat to you regarding your concerns and I am surprised that you didn’t raise any of these points with me previously, particularly when we have been in touch over the past 4 weeks attending to standard maintenance items.

Probably one of the best builders that we work for.
Outstanding working atmosphere which filters down through to our workmanship and desire to do the upmost and more to make sure Cam and his team get exactly what they want.
They have a remarkable on & off-site team that always delivers in making sure everything runs smoothly.
Its a pleasure to be working with such a unique custom home builder that always produces such exquisite homes. Their desire to produce this on-going quality definitely spouts from only concentrating on a handful of projects each year which allows 100% commitment and attention to every single client.

Over the past 15 years, we have worked with Cambuild on numerous projects throughout Perth. We have always found them to be a very professional and dedicated team and one that share the same values as TDL - to deliver quality outcomes.
Collaborating with Cam and the team is very seamless, everyone understands the project and it’s intent. This is a result of the attention to detail and investment put into each and every project.
We work with a number of builders and can honestly say, that Cambuild design and build truly unique homes that are constructed with the highest degree of workmanship. It is a privilege creating landscapes that compliment their luxury homes.

I have worked with the Cambuild team numerous times in my job as a freelance journalist producing content for the state newspaper and as a homes and interior design blogger. They are a building company I would wholeheartedly recommend. Their builds are of a high calibre, beautiful and stand out from the crowd. But furthermore, I hear only wonderful things about Cambuild from the clients who have built or renovated with them. It is lovely to see people who have had a genuinely fantastic experience with their builder, are proud of their finished home, and extremely happy to recommend the people they worked with.
As a journalist producing media content, I have also personally always found the Cambuild team fantastic to deal with - they are highly organised, efficient, warm and friendly. I have written several articles and blog posts on Cambuild's Custom Designed Homes, and each home has been an absolute pleasure to visit. No matter the style (and Cambuild has the versatility to nail styles from modern to traditional) each home has been beautiful, light-filled, warm and welcoming - true homes, not just houses.

Cambuild provided the design and construction services to more than double the size of our family home.
The process was easy. The quality of communication and workmanship was excellent.
The end product was our dream, exactly as per our vision.
I would recommend Cambuild to anyone looking to build a new home.

Cambuild came into our 'new home project' towards the end of the council approval process and, thanks to their help, got it over the line in time to start the build.
Throughout the build process there was much discussion and mutual collaboration on decisions - which worked well.
A home build, especially if it is the home you intend to be your life home, is never easy, but Cam Wilkie and his team were always accessible, problems were sorted and we ended up with a beautiful 'home' that we all love coming home to.

At our first meeting with Cam Wilkie, we were very impressed with Cam's professionalism and his ability to answer all of our questions, even the unasked ones, and REALLY understand our vision.
Since this was to be our 'forever' home it was critical for us to have a builder we could trust who would liaise with the relevant planning authorities, complete the build on schedule, use quality materials and deliver exceptional quality of workmanship .
Since we have moved in, not a day goes by that we don’t feel that we made the best choice possible. The workmanship and the craftsmanship that has gone into this construction has made us very proud to tell others that we own a Cambuild home. There have been times when we have had to call Cam with minor issues, but he has always sent someone to take care of it. His staff, from office to construction to maintenance, has also been great to work with.
Cambuild came highly recommended to us and now we can personally recommend this company to others.
