Hi My name’s Luke Neil. I’m a Melbourne based carpenter-turned furniture maker and designer. My furniture is constructed from essentially rubbish - recycled metal and timber that would otherwise end up in landfill. With this rough raw material, I make furniture that I believe to be both practical and stylish. It is also quite different to anything else on the market today. The style could be described as industrial art deco - incorporating unusual shapes and features such as circular drawers and curved corners. The recycling of materials is important to me. I believe there needs to be a change in the way we consume things, with just too much waste in the world. And I guess this is an ethos I try to live by and is one of the main drivers in my work. Old2New Designs started with a discarded hot water tank and has grown into an ongoing passion.
