Metricon mis sold my partner & I a gas fire in our new home , as we built with them. The fire place was not ready by hand over and in good faith we accepted the home .
However this was a mistake , once we saw the fire place working we know it wasn’t the product that had been sold to us , as we had been promised a gas fire with high flames and high quality heat . we had the gas checked, although no issue with the gas . However we were told by Metricon that this was the product and there was nothing they could do .
I nagioated with the gas fire company who were great and gave great advice as to how we could swap the gas fire over . However we needed metricons approval . Metricon refused to give approval and refused to rectify the situation .
This was all done with metricon having reduced communication and saying they would email and phone by certain dates and then not communicating with my partner & I . We had to consistently chase metricon for answers.
I am bitterly disappointed with metricon and if I was to give advice to anyone it would be …. If your thinking of building with metricon ….. don’t go somewhere else.

Still trying to get major defects fixed 18 months after handover. Issues were brought to managements attention 6 months before handover. Moved in with no hot water system and hardened concrete blocking shower drain.

Our experience with Metricon has been marred by a lack of communication, poor quality of workmanship, and significant delays.
Despite promises of weekly updates on site progress from Metricon, we never received any communication unless we initiated it ourselves.
They failed to notify us of changes in site managers until we followed up, adding to the overall lack of transparency and professionalism in our experience.
We were promised by Construction Manager that we will receive the pictures of the rectifications. Till the date we have not received any pictures.

Extremely bad experience building with Metricon
1. We received an invoice for the Lockup stage payment but they refused to provide any site photos after several email requests. Site supervisor never replied to our emails. Site Coordinator asked to refer to him only and refused to arrange site photos or private inspection. We had to drive 1 hour to the site and found that the cladding was not installed at all. We asked to make the payment after the jobs were completed but received numerous emails with threats of penalty and insulting words. They refused to complete the cladding installation but pushed for payment for it. They haven't finished cladding after 6 weeks of issuing the invoice.
2. After we made a complaint for the invoice, we received a water bill of $1400 while the job was still under construction.
3. The Fixing stage report was done by a licensed inspector on 18 December 2023 but the site supervisor refused to fix anything and claimed they would fix them on PCI;
4. PCI was completed by a licensed inspector on 01 March 2024 with 67 defects identified while we were informed that items from the fixing stage report were not addressed at all;
5. Reinspection was completed on 7 May 2024 with still 46 defects outstanding however we were told they were all fixed before arranging reinspection;
6. On 07 June 2024, we were told to attend the handover, however, without the help of the inspector, there were more than 10 noticeable items we can see at first glance not being fixed;
7. On 20 June 2024 another handover date was rebooked but the site supervisor refused us access to the house for any further inspection and asked us to give the cheque and take the keys only. After making a formal complaint, we got access to the house to have a final check.
8. After the handover, we found out no clothesline was installed and we were given two owners’ keys only, and no reasons were given why the owners’ keys were activated before the handover and why there were only two copies of it. After we requested the full set of owners’ keys and held up the cheque for final payment, they broke into the house, changed the lock without our consent or our attendance and blocked us from accessing the house again.

My advice is to avoid building with Metricon. We were continuously provided with inaccurate timeframes, false promises and a failure to acknowledge wrong doing. When we moved into our home we were without hot water for the first two-weeks, along with a range of other defects which we were told were "normal". We were told by the manager we were dealing with at the time that he was "too busy with finishing the new display home" to schedule for these issues to be remedied. Response from management has been pathetic and a complete lack of responsibility taken over the multitude of failings throughout our build. Honestly, do yourself a favour and build with someone else.

Absolutely shocking service and even worse build.
So many defects there are too many to list.
What is worse I still have no appliances connect, had all three toilets which were broken and no plumbing fit off for my washing machine.
Very hard to live in a home where you can't go to the toilet, book or wash your clothes.
I forgot to mention the heating flooring is broken, there is no doorbell and a host of other things which have been left off the contract.
Spending well over $750k on a build and this is what I am left with.
Never use these people

So many service request I have to raise for their defects and no action been taken since months after handover. There is NBN NTD box not installed on property which should be done before 20 days of handover, there is window knob cover missing, there are garage rubbish which they left and never come back to clear those even if so many emails, service request, calls from customer side . Once your money gone to them no service is provided and they just run away with unfinished work which you will come to know with the course of time eventually.

Since handover, we've had multiple roof leaks, each time we've had to fight Metricon to get them fixed. Their site supervisors (the ones you speak to after handover for warranty issues) only job is to find excuses not to fix issues. In our case, we had solar panels installed 2-3 years ago. Metricon came and fixed an issue with duct work not being connected to the vents in our roof in September. A few months later, that exact duct was leaking water when it rained, yet Metricon are saying they won't fix it because we had solar panels installed. That's just one example, each warranty issue we've raised has been a fight about whose responsibility / problem it is.
Don't waste your time building with Metricon. There are so many other builders that have better post-handover support.

We are currently building with Matricon, worst experience ever!!! We started our planning phase with them since 2021. This has been a year we started with studio M ( which usually takes max 2 months) and still waiting for them to finalise our variation and tender. Every time they provide us a variation and updated tender, so many mistakes that we have to find out spending all our weekends and request corrections and feeling like it’s a never ending process! Staff members are very unskilled and unprofessional which we never thought would be the case for Matricon. They are not really equipped for a big project like ours. We lodged complaints several times but seem like they don’t care!!! Really really disappointed and frustrated with their service and the loss of our money ( for the interest we are paying on our land which was registered in Mar 23 and now it’s Nov 23)) due to the delay from their side. Will never recommend Matricon to anyone. We are trapped since we already spent so much time and terminating now will be a huge loss for us!!! Hope no one else suffers like the way they made us suffer. Not to mention we are paying so much more than expected due to them not providing us proper/ correct information.

Bought a brand new home from Metricon in December 2020, less than 3 years later my shower supports have rusted straight through. When I approached them “sorry our fittings are only guaranteed 2 years” poor materials, no responsibility taken, avoid at all costs, and don’t believe the product review rating either as they fight all negative reviews.

We chose to build with Metricon because they were a luxury builder and we fell in love with their designs. We spent $500,000 on our build, the Metro 32 in Keysborough, Victoria. If you have this kind of money to spend, I would highly recommend finding yourself another trusted builder. I have to commend Metricon for the speed of our build (site start in May 2019 and hand over in November 2019) but unfortunately the quality of work is far from anything luxurious. Their communication is very slow. I wish they have taken more time and care with the build as they have no reason to rush when our contract has allowed to 2020 completion.
Post hand over we noticed a puddle of water in our kitchen floor. Upon further inspection we have found a crack in our kitchen floor tile where water was flowing from. We first raised our concerns with Metricon in November 2019, now July 2020 the issue is still ongoing. We continue to raise our concerns in December 2019 of the water damages as a result of the leak. Whilst Metricon was able to rectify the leak at the time (the toilet in our powder room was the cause of the leak), they have continued to neglect the damages the leak has caused (split, warp and mold)(the buildup of mold due to lack of response and action from Metricon have given us another issue with booklice to deal with as they feed on mold). Our toilet has not been re-fitted and sealed to its original state. The leak has affected our door frames (powder and laundry room), skirtings and walls along our hallway around and into our walk-in kitchen pantry, laminated kickboard (tall pantry cupboard), and all ground level cupboard and cabinetry work to our laundry room. Metricon finally sent some trades to attend the work in July 2020. Trades people said they have treated the mold and it shouldn’t be an issue anymore. Whilst they have worked on it for 4 consecutive days, they have only been able to attend one section of the work required and the work so far doesn’t meet specifications. The trades have used different materials and colours. It’s clear Metricon do not communicate with their trades. I don’t know how long I need to wait for them to return and attend the remaining work and rectify their own work, or if they are even going to. They don’t send Metricon representative to do quality checks to ensure works meet specifications and standards. This builder seems to be oblivious to any concerns we’ve raised and have stretch the process on beyond sensible or necessary time frames. Lastly, throughout the whole process in rectifying defects, the representative does not pick up any phone calls. Emails are not attended to and responded to in a timely manner. When they are responded to, questions are not addressed. All we wanted is for the defects to be resolved.
