We first met Kirby in 2020 as part of our tender process to find a suitable builder for our large-scale Queenslander renovation in the Grange. Following extensive due diligence with multiple well known and respected builders, we made the decision to proceed with Kirby and the team at Saunders Building Company. Whilst a leap of faith at the time, in an uncertain building environment, we could not be happier with the outcome. Kirby Saunders and his team were a great building company to deal with. We have built new houses before but this was our first renovation project. Our beloved 1935 pre-war character home needed a deep renovation along with newly built rooms to extend the life of the house and become a home for our family and busy life style with 3 boys and our dog. Before starting with the renovation project we met with Kirby to review the floor plans and he suggested good ideas that helped us to save costs to move the final figure closer to our initial budget without compromising the look and style we wanted for the final product. During construction Kirby and his team were always available to review things onsite and flexible to take on board small modifications from the plans as we progressed with the renovations. They also proposed practical ideas that improved our final product. After handover, Kirby has also been available for us to adjust small details beyond the scheduled repair periods stipulated in the contract. Kirby has been friendly and approachable during the entire process and we really value his easy going approach, it did remove a lot of stress away and made our life much easier during the project. The final product fulfilled our high expectations as this was a big project and investment for us. Completion date was close enough to contract date which was not minor considering some external delays (delivery of materials from overseas, wet weather) also that our renovation project was in the middle of COVID pandemic. Project started in Dec. 2020 and handover was in Oct. 2021. As a first-time renovator, we highly recommend Kirby Saunders building company.

Kirby Saunders and his team are great operators, they’re fast, thorough and have a wonderful attention to detail. Our project was a big one, taking a pre-war bungalow, raising it and building in underneath. The project also included a pool, pool house, gardens, driveway as well as the house. Our project began in January 2019 and was completed in we moved in in October 2019. Kirby kept us up to date with what was happening on site at all times and sent us photos and video’s along the way so that we could see where they were up to which we loved as we really felt involved in the whole building process. It was a very exciting year for us watching the project unfold and we are beyond thrilled with the result. The house is stunning, all their work, fixtures and fittings are beautiful, and we couldn’t speak highly enough of Kirby and his team. We have no hesitation in recommending Saunders Building Company to anyone looking to renovate or build. Not only were the works on time and budget but his professionalism in always responding promptly and his attention to detail did not go unnoticed. The breakdown of his tender submissions was very detailed which made it easier to understand and evaluate during the tender process. To Whom it May Concern, Saunders Building have recently completed a major house renovation of which we were the owners of 99 Elliott St, Hawthorne. We are ecstatic with the finished product, the building process/journey and strong relationship built across the build project team over 12 months from tender to house completion. Kirby Saunders was invited to tender for the build project in August 2017, along with 3 other well known builders who had solid reputations in Brisbane renovation/restoration building projects. A client’s house, is the biggest personal asset that many people own and to entrust the success of the project to a builder which you may have met a few times takes a huge leap of faith. Apart from Kirby’s confidence in his abilities to complete the build on time and to budget, he also displayed a very flexible client- based approach. His mantra, which I am proud to say he upheld in every way throughout the build, was to take the day to day burden or stresses of the building project on board personally, with his number one goal to make the experience an enjoyable one for the client. Based on Kirby’s confidence and eagerness to take the job on we engaged his services and I am very happy to say, we truly never looked back. Kirby’s outstanding ability to listen to the client, make suggestions on the run as required and co-ordinate all communication accurately and timely between both the client and the architect was amazing. The Saunders building team, which encompassed five builders on site, showed a very high level of capability with the finishes provided. All contractors to Saunders Building, liaised with the client like it was their own job and strong relationships were also built. This is testament to the way the job was co-ordinated by Kirby through the seamless transitions between the many different phases of the job and trades/contractors on site. In particular, the final part of the build, where many elements overlapped with over 30 people on site at once. The job site always remained positive and every contractor went to great lengths to ensure the client was happy. Saunders Building Company turned our dream renovation into a reality. Kirby was without fail honest and punctual in all communications during the project and we were never left wondering where we sat in relation to the timeline. He had no issue explaining things we didn't quite understand, working with us to provide solutions to any issues that popped up along the way. Variations were not a problem and were embraced with full disclosure of the extra costs that may be incurred. Saunders Building staff and contractors were always professional and courteous and obviously take pride in their work. We engaged Saunders Building to do a large renovation of our home in the Ferny Hills area. From the outset we were extremely happy with Kirby and the Saunders team.
