Lurleen at I for Style has provided us with invaluable advice and guidance with our renovation. Lurleen has been flexible around the changing needs of our project and has shared her expertise and helped us to select exterior and interior colours for everything from stairs and doors, to roofing, gutters, window frames and working out what to do with the flooring. Lurleen's assistance has not only saved us a great deal of time, but the results are looking amazing. While it is all still a work in progress there are so many positive comments about how the old and new parts of the house are coming together and compliment each other. We recently purchased an apartment as our new home. We wanted the interior to reflect our tastes & personalities and to provide us with a personal haven. Lurleen Kirkwood, the principle of I for Style has worked we us on a residential and commercial level for 11 years. The first project was our home at Kenthurst. It was a 1960’s AV Jennings home. She revamped it by redoing the colour to suit our modern interiors. We currently have tenants in it, and one of the comments they made when first entering the property that the light colours of the interior give it a modern but airy feel about it. The next project was for a new build on the South Coast of NSW. Lurleen was there from concept to completion. The brief was for beachside home. Lurleen spent a long day with me down the coast selecting the kitchen and it’s finishes, including bench tops, handles and timbers for the kitchen. Always referring to the architects plans. We then moved onto the flooring company and then organized the timber finish and style of stairs. Lurleen held our hand through the whole build. We then discussed interior and exterior colours, but she does more than colours. Lurleen revamped our business/commercial premises. She came in and gave us advice on colours and furniture placement. She also helped us with positioning and promoting our products by showing us how to place our display items to get the best out of them and how the customer can see them at their best angle. We then move to our current home. Lurleen came in when we first moved in 7 years. She did the inside colours and outside colours. The outside was a bit of a challenge. She had to take in account current colours that couldn’t be changed and sandstone that was surrounding the house. There are a lot of tones and shades in sandstone, but she bought the best out of the stone and it was reflected well in the rendered colour finish. Our current home is now going to go up for sale in August. I once again got Lurleen in to redo the colour and carpeting and advise me on what to do with the rooms. She took into consideration what the real Estate agents had advised us and Lurleen just took it that little bit further and advised us what to remove to open the home up and make it more appealing to buyers. In conclusion the services are wide ranging from colours to finishes of a home from concept to completion. She will also travel and hold your hand through the project and give her professional opinion at each step. Lurleen can move form modern, to family to commercial landscapes and prepare professional schedules that will meet your brief. She has been a wonderful, prompt and professional for the whole 11 years we have worked together, and I have always felt confident recommending I for Style to a multitude of people. We had started on refurbishing our home in a relaxed Hamptons style but wanted a slightly formal version, rather than a beach house version often seen in Australia. We found after a while we need help to complete our plans. We hired Lurleen Kirkwood to help us find he perfect blue for our lounge, dining and powder rooms. We wanted to make a low cost, positive statement as these were the first impression rooms in our home. Lurleen took time to understand our design ideas, personal preferences and budget. The result was exactly what we were hoping for, three boring rooms transformed into "wow". We then moved onto the study and Lurleen developed a bespoke painted wall stripe to incorporate the navy theme within that exisiting room as well as plan bespoke cabinetry within our parent's retreat/library zone...which was bland and lacked personality. The final piece was the upstairs carpeting of retreat, bedrooms and hallways. We were planning for some time to replace the carpet but had not done so through lack of confidence. Lurleen has helped us choose a colour direction for the carpet which ties in the whole house, enabling us to continue renovations with confidence. Thank you IForStyle.

We have engaged Lurleen Kirkwood from I for Style for many projects over the years and have always been more than happy with the services she has provided. When my wife first met Lurleen back in 2001, she required some advice for reupholstering an armchair. This was followed by an interior colour consultation and various interior decoration services over the years including window furnishings, furniture, lighting and advising on the refurbishment of the existing kitchen, flooring, furniture layouts, artworks etc. In 2009 we began the process of having a new house built on our property for extended family which council required to be joined to our existing house. During this time, Lurleen was a tremendous support and selected all the flooring which included a bespoke tile design for the entry, colours and finishes for the kitchen, bathroom and laundry joinery, bench tops and vanity tops, door hardware, interior paint colours, lighting and the lighting plan for the electricians. She was involved in an advisory capacity with the layout of the kitchen, bathrooms, and laundry as well as the selection of window furnishings. She selected the colours and finishes for the exterior of the new house and because of its connection to the existing house, also needed to specify the placement of the new colours for our existing house. More recently Lurleen has also been involved in refurbishing and renovating a spacious two bedroom flat in the lower ground level of our house. This project also included setting up of a home office, which now looks out on to established lawns, gardens and a new pool, thus creating a very relaxed atmosphere. Lurleen’s talents were utilised throughout and involved advising on kitchen and bathroom fixtures and fittings, producing a 3D Google Sketchup model for the new bathroom, selecting interior paint colours and finishes, colours and finishes for kitchen joinery, bench tops and hardware, bathroom wall/floor tiles, bespoke vanity and travertine vessel basin, and timber flooring in other areas. Lurleen’s driven ambition has always been total client satisfaction, and this was achieved for us. Apart from her own talents and skills, she has access to many fine and reliable tradesman as required, all of whom tell us that they admire her work and work ethics, and enjoy being a part of her projects.

March 2014 We have recently worked with Lurleen Kirkwood from I for Style on the interior renovation of our home. We are delighted with the result, transforming it from 1970’s décor to a modern and inviting interior. Lurleen’s expertise in helping to select and specify the paint colours, window furnishings and carpet choices has been invaluable. Her advice in the design of custom made joinery and other design features such as a large mirror have also made a fabulous contribution to the final look of our home. I regard it a pleasure to be asked to give a reference for Lurleen Kirkwood. My wife, Maureen, and I have lived in our present home in West Pennant Hills for nearly 25 years. It was new when we first moved in and our colour scheme was a single colour for the walls along with white ceilings. How boring, but that was our thinking then, and 20 years later when we started a complete makeover, guess what!!!, yes we were still thinking along the same lines. Before we started we were referred to Lurleen, who in a short time changed our whole thinking. Various colours were suggested, which would be best described as “ different”. however we decided to give her a go. We knew after the first room that the “different” colour was fantastic and it not only changed our minds, it completely changed the whole atmosphere of the room. Well, why stop here, we were on a roll, so we went onto the rest of the house. With Lurleen’s experienced advice we have nearly completed our makeover. It was done in stages to fit in with our changing family needs. Lurleen was able to advise on all aspects of the makeover. It was not just the colours, the whole room was considered and how it blended in with adjoining rooms. Every item was carefully chosen and it had to be just right. Lurleen also arranged carpets, light fittings, new furniture were needed, cushions, carpet, curtains, blinds, timber shutters, bedspreads, artwork, photo framing, etc.. When it was time for our new kitchen we asked Lurleen to be our advisor and she was involved in all discussions at planning stage and all site meetings during installation. This gave us peace of mind as nothing was overlooked. The end result was we now have a fabulous kitchen which works very well. Lurleen did the same with our bathrooms, covering tiles, tap ware, vanity design etc. We even ended up with a striped painted wall, which when first suggested we thought, no way, but Lurleen could visualise the end result, and of course it looks great and makes a good talking point. Lurleen has contacts for all tradesmen needed or you can arrange your own if you wish. Our striped wall was done by her regular painter. We have come to know Lurleen very well over this time and she has almost become part of our family. She has a logical approach and is very easy to work with. Lurleen also wont hesitate to say “ no, that wont look right” like the red clock for our kitchen which she felt would not fit in with a white / cream kitchen. Just as well she has a good sense of humour. A word of advice to any one thinking of a renovation or makeover. You need good advice along the way and Lurleen should be top of your list. After working with Lurleen for our home I was delighted to have her input again for the complete renovation of our beach holiday unit on the north coast. She was keen to hear what we anted to achieve and challenged us with fresh ideas and up to date solutions. She gave us access to unique furniture and fittings as well as helping solve problems of space, sunlight, salt corrosion, sand and heavy use. The result is both unique and outstanding in the area with our rental clients now booking many months ahead to secure the unit for their holidays. We totally enjoyed the process and continue to enjoy the result. When we planned the move into our new home, it soon became obvious there was far too much to accomplish and plan without some help. Painting colours, wall treatments, changes in door configuration & hardware, flooring, window coverings, shelves, light fittings, furniture, cupboards and more. The list seemed endless, however with Lurleen’s expert help every detail was listed and accomplished without fuss – she even managed the process while we were overseas for several weeks. I found working with Lurleen was a joy. She took all my ideas and gave me options I hadn’t even thought of, her attitude was positive and practical. She had good contacts to tap into and also did quite a bit of research on specialty items such as my dining room light fittings. None of the small details were missed – she picked up on power & phone point changes, odd cupboard handles, air conditioning controls & vents etc. that could interfere with the overall look or cause problems later. After living in the home for some time now I can honestly say I still love her colour choices and finishes. In fact we are planning to use Lurleen’s services in renovating our beachside holiday unit.
