I was very reluctant to book an interior designer. I didn't see myself as 'the type' and, as a creative myself, knew myself to be entirely capable of choosing the colour of a vase. I did so because I was overwhelmed by logistics in a new country town and already knew a little of Jo. Jo made her money with the very first suggestion (ie where to put the linen cupboard). Then, through careful planning across the whole project, I avoided significant structural mistakes that would have been irreversible. It was exciting to collaborate on the aesthetics of the look, and Jo was happy to meet me in my love of earthy tones and neutrals. She also nudged me towards a more courageous edge, to achieve far more stunning results. Very happy - thanks Jo!

My wife and I probably represent the quintessential downsizers - tired of going up and down stairs - looking to realise some of our existing assets, but make sure we could continue to be proud of our new - smaller - abode. Being new to retirement, and new to Phillip Island, our decision making, to an almost uncomfortable extent, had to be placed in the hands of the local, but unknown to us, expertise we could bring to bear. And the creative support we got from Jo, ably backed up in the office by Sharon, was outstanding. It began with a mood board which had clearly taken account of our tastes and expectations - Jo genuinely LISTENS to her clients - and then moved in to choices of paint colours, fabrics, fittings, tiles, floorcoverings, furnishings, and right down to wallpaper in the toilet. Jo also linked us with some great tradespeople and project managed the whole exercise with real passion and understanding. We came to trust her advice and really enjoy every visit - and there were many visits. The project took several months, was occasionally held up due to supplies and the shortage of trades, but we got there in the end, and we couldn't be happier with the outcome. Thanks to Jo, we were able to take a wonderfully located, but pretty traditional unit with a good core floorplan, boring and worn fixtures and fittings and a non-existent garden, and transform it into a warm, inviting, colourful and character-full representation of us and our needs. In short, we now have a two bedroom, two bathroom plus study unit we can be (and are) proud of! We would recommend Brinnie T Design without hesitation.

Brinnie T Design is a terrific design business situated at Cowes Phillip Island who specialises in providing wonderful, even exciting answers to clients who have disabilities and also want a lovely bathroom. I needed a major design answer to bring my laundry upstairs, to be combined with bathroom toilet. When I contacted Jo Viney, principal designer at Brinnie T, who interviewed me, developed a brief, provided me with design choices. Jo’s contracts with clients provides for project management of the building project, being on site to introduce new tradesmen and generally be involved during critical timelines in construction to ensure a quality build. Jo’s fees are affordable, and once I got used to contracting a design company, (Brinnie T is my first design company Also Jo sources fittings that serve dual purpose, as safety while being good design. Jo’s attention to clients safety needs combined with modern, excellent design meant I could rely on her good judgement and research. Brinnie T Design is a terrific business. I was so happy with my redesigned upstairs bathroom, laundry and toilet, I contracted Jo to design my downstairs bathroom and toilet which is now completed. I’m very pleased with this latest job. After severe storm damage to my home I was daunted by all the choices I needed to make. Jo came to my rescue and assisted me with paint colour for the interiors, floor covering options and colours, sofa fabrics, light fittings, positioning of furniture in room spaces, positioning of artwork. Brinne T Design was amazing in designing my new shop. The ideas that were forthcoming took me out of my comfort zone but made such sense. We recently built a retail tenancy for Cotton Onto Craft down at Phillip Island. Jo was their Design Manager for the project. Jo was always available for any design and building information we required and assisted in troubleshooting the as built issues that inevitably pop up on such projects. Jo was creative and innovative in her approach and was extremely easy to deal with. We hope to work with Jo again in the future.

We engaged Jo to do a colour consult on a holiday property for us. Jo arrived early and was full of amazing bold ideas from the get go. Jo provided us with colour selections and concept boards for each room and had heaps of helpful advice, including trades, suppliers and more! What a talent!

We asked Jo to focus on concept design for our Cape Woolamai home and assisting us to get the scale right in terms of rugs and placement of furniture etc. Initially it took some to-ing and fro-ing to get on the same page, but Jo was always receptive and responsive to our feedback and adjusted her concepts accordingly. The concepts gave us a defined palette to work to and a look to aim for when we were out sourcing things. She was also excellent at demonstrating the rationale for her thinking (a dark blue wall), as well as patiently explaining how some of our ideas might not work. I must have SMS'd or emailed Jo a million photos, links and ideas as I went about sourcing stuff and she was patient and supportive in her responses. She also had some great suggestions that we decided to action. It was a collaborative effort and I think the end result is better for her involvement.

I engaged Jo to help me renovate a retro home. I needed some of her chutzpah to help me get out of neutral and kick it up a gear or two by seemlessly blending, replacing, concealing and highlighting an ecclectic mix of timber veneers, concrete slabs and an over-abundance of textural bricks to say the least with more punchy soft furnishings and art. Jo came to my rescue when both showers in my holiday home were leaking due to poor workmanship from the builder. Jo managed the whole project so efficiently and kept all the trades moving and me in the loop. Existing tiles had to be removed, new tiles chosen, waterproofing done, then retiling. The job was complicated by tiles no longer available, so she came up with a great idea to make features of the showers using herringbone tiles. They look fantastic! It was a relief to be able to hand the project to Jo and not have to worry about it, knowing it was in good hands. Jo's eye for style is amazing and the finished result looks fantastic.
