Based on the Northside of Brisbane, Kim Black Design is a residential boutique design studio that focuses on renovations and creating original interiors of quality. We avoid the usual ‘trends’ ensuring the interiors we create have longevity and a point of difference. The result is interiors that are uniquely you and stand the test of time. As part of the process we begin by looking at what you already have in your home that might be incorporated into the design. I love to re-use, re-purpose and re-invent items to reduce costs and to ensure that your home is truly a part of who you are. We work to understand how you use ‘the space’ and what you want from your home. So that the home not only looks fabulous, but is highly functional. Build to handle the kids, the dogs and the Queensland weather. For the variety of house design that Queensland has to offer, Kim is across it all, whether you live in a new build, down-sizing to an apartment or a traditional style Queenslander, Kim and her team will make the most of your home, inside and outside. We asked Kim to help us totally renovate our 70’s lounge room, dining room, entry and patio as we didn’t know where to start. After our first consultation Kim came again with suggested paint colour, samples for curtains and carpet, and was accompanied by her floor covering specialist with tile samples, all of which were perfect. It has been a pleasure working with Kim because she went out of her way to listen to our opinions and help us finalise our decisions on furniture, artwork etc when we were at times, indecisive to say the least. Her connections in the industry were all extremely professional and willing to go above and beyond when a few unexpected problems arose. We are exceedingly happy with the end result and were so excited when Kim achiieved 1st place in a recent Design Competition for turning our house into a beautiful home and would thoroughly recommend her in the future.

Kim has been involved in 2 of our home makeovers, recently redesigning our tired Holiday home in Noosaville on the beautiful sunshine coast. We purchased the 1990's home in Early 2018 and called in Kim to work with us and our budget to transform this tired coastal home and give it a fresh new resort style feel, modern colours, carpets, window furnishings and furniture. After the initial visit and consultation, kim presented us with a mood board of warm beachy colours and fabrics. We are so happy with the finished look working with the existing floor tiles to save on costs, Kim has transformed our tired home into a beautiful place of relaxation, we cant wait to arrive every chance we get. We had renovated our kitchen 9 months earlier and could not find a splashback so we contacted Kim Black for some professional advice. We also asked if she could help us with new prints for our walls as well as cushions and decorating items to our tired home as I had no idea what to do. Kim was not only a true professional but was an absolute delight to work with. She transformed our house into a home and it looks fabulous. Kim communicated with us throughout the process providing us with ideas and suggestions ensuring we were well informed. I cannot speak highly enough of Kim.

Kim Black Design worked with us in the first instance with input to design and build a new kitchen and laundry. Kim recommended a tradesman to carry out this work and she and Nathan worked very harmoniously as a team. To refurnish our bedrooms and living room Kim's knowledge and expertise came to the fore. In selecting fabrics and organising the making and installation of curtain and blinds, bed coverings, lounge chair recovering, as well as choosing new furniture and furnishings, for example cushions, and lighting Kim's experience was invaluable. At all times she was ready to incorporate our ideas along with her own suggestions. And she was ready to suit our budget. We enjoyed working with Kim and are very happy with our renewed house.

After only 2 meetings KB Design presented mood boards with the details for our kitchen refurbishment, and better use of our space to reflect the changing needs of our now adult children.
