“In short, outstanding service! Building a new home has been a very daunting process. One of the best decisions I made was to engage the services of an interior designer, specifically Julia from Julberry Design. I contacted Julia from Julberry design to get advice on the colours and finishes for my future home. To get an idea of what house I was building Julia asked me to share the floor plans with her. Thanks goodness I did. I thought “I am building with a reputable builder. They have built so many houses, they have got a huge range of standard floor plans. It seems so easy – just pick the one that the most suitable to you, tweak it a bit and it’s done.” Julia immediately noticed a few things I hadn’t even thought about and offered to do a Floor Plan check. I realised that builders document only the basics of room sizes and doorways, with no consideration for the furniture floor plan. In checking the floor plan Julia found that my planned furniture configuration for the living area wouldn’t fit. This was a huge disappointment to me and I found the situation quite stressful. She recommended reconfiguring the kitchen to gain more space in the living area. An added bonus was this kitchen reconfiguration also allowed space for another big window bringing more light into the room. She moved windows to make them bigger and adjusted some walls to give me more storage space. I’m so lucky this change was made before council approval of the plans. If I had signed off on the initial builders plan, I would have been disappointed with so many things that could have been better. The main concern would have been when I found my furniture would not fit and the living space would have been rather cramped. Another service Julia provided was accompanying me on my appointment to the builder selection centre. She assisted in selecting colours, textures and fixtures which all work well together rather than a random selection of items which don’t suit. Unfortunately, the in-house designers don’t know the desired furniture etc therefore can’t consider the whole picture – the home with all finishes and the furniture. Julia prepared several 3D sketches for me showing different finishes and configurations including the different option for furniture. This helped me to make the right decisions as I was able to visualize the end result. Julia was so helpful every step of the way. I appreciated her expert advice and guidance. If you just follow the standard builder specifications you might miss the opportunity to improve the functionality of your future space. I would highly recommend Julia from Julberry Design for any building or renovation project. Julia’s extensive design experience and creativity has helped realise my dream home.”
