Ruth Plowes - Interior Design

It had been 3 years since we had built our new home, but it did not look complete. We had a mix of existing furniture from previous places and some new pieces that we had picked up apart from the other bits and bobs. We tried different arrangements and combinations but something did not add up. We also had a unique challenge with a red glass splashback in our kitchen which is a great statement, but we found it difficult to bring the living room and the kitchen together. That’s when we decided to get in an expert to help us and we are so glad we worked with Ruth. On our first meeting she really took the time to know our likes and dislikes and asked us questions about the kind of vibe/décor we were looking for in our different rooms. We also went through the things that we would want to retain (previous furniture, things we had picked up on our trips etc), our budget. In the next few days she put together a mood board, with different themes and colour options for our drawing room, bedroom etc. There were suggestions about furniture placement, colour palates. The oak coffee table she suggested brining in ( we were looking for a new one), is something we would have never thought of, but it just blended in and brought warmth in the space. Her idea to paint our master bedroom single wall with a different colour shade, just gave the bedroom the desired depth. Ruth has always been available over email or phone, to quickly give a thumbs up or a thumbs down for anything that we come across be it lamp shades, decorative articles, furniture choices, which otherwise would have taken us a lot of time to decide on . That put things into perspective and gave us an idea of what will or won’t go well. She was with us throughout the process, we took snaps of things we liked and then emailed it to her and she came back with her thoughts/ideas. We are so happy we found Ruth to help us personalise our place and really make it something that we truly love!! We would totally recommend her to anyone who is planning to up a full house or even just needs a just little oomph to set their place apart .

We approached Ruth as our Consultant for our renovation project as we believe in the benefits and principles of Feng Shui for our home . Ruth is professional and knowledgeable in her approach and and genuinely cares about our project. She gave me permission to sell some pieces of exclusive art that we inherited with our home, replace it by my own art (where she helped a lot to position it to balance our FengShui) plus I now have a little Vision corner where I can let my creative side flow. Beautiful, empowering, me. After working with her, I invited her to share her knowledge at one of my workshops about Gut Health so that my participants can learn about the power of decluttering. I have a large sprawling beach house and wanted to redesign it (paint, furniture, floor coverings and furniture) in a way that created flow, kept both my husband and I happy design wise, also worked for adult kids and guests, looked stylish but still was liveable and maintainable on a daily basis. A tough gig with so many people and lifestyles to consider. Ruth was brilliant and so professional. Her initial consultation teased out all our wants and needs and the design concepts she delivered for the whole house and some specific individual rooms (daughter's room and guest room) were so inspiring and beautiful I couldn't wait to get started. Ruth even spent a day furniture shopping with me to help sit on lounges, check rug colours and generally feel and touch items to make sure what looked OK online would actually work in our home. The end result has been fantastic and with Ruth's coaching and colour swatches always on hand, I have confidently added pieces to further enhance the vibe of our home.

Nursery Design chapter designed developed the concepts and themes for us to choose from. Creating samples of concepts and colour palettes Executing on design with a few extra surprises. We chose the birds and butterflies theme, which included bedding, mobiles, hanging cages, bird and butterfly items on the wall and in the surprise tree as a shelf. A spectacular job done by Design Chapter and 3 years on my daughter loves the theme and blows the butterflies every night.

As a time poor individual looking to reno / freshen my home - kitchen, bathrooms, painting etc , I chanced upon Ruth's company from an ad in the local directory - glad I did . Ruth's suggestions, ideas & professional advice were / are highly beneficial in the whole process. Ruth even attended meetings at the kitchen/ bathroom showrooms , providing a much needed second opinion for this phase of the project. Punctuality , attention to detail and rapid responses to emails and phone queries have made the whole experience so much easier .As an ongoing project I will be using Ruth for advice and help on flooring, window furnishings, furniture , accessories etc . I wanted to restyle my bedroom and Ruth took the time to understand our style and what we liked before making recommendations about what we could do. She took our budget into consideration and provided us with a number of options that were all lovely. My husband and both loved one option in particular and it has transformed our bedroom into a stylish, warm and inviting room. Ruth was easy to work with with and very personable. She listened to what we wanted and asked great questions about who we are and what really appeals to us together and individually. We engaged Ruth from The Design Chapter after purchasing and moving to a new house (approx 10 years old) which needed a face lift. Ruth provided us with beautiful colour palettes & mood boards for each room which are compact enough to take shopping for fabrics and furniture etc, and an overall plan of the house showing paint colours and strengths for each wall to tie everything together. Ruth also provided plenty of other suggestions and options for furniture, artwork and accessories. We are able to work away at the renovations at our own pace as budget permits, but still have these beautiful documents to refer back to when needed to keep us inspired and on track design wise.
