Parka Renovations

We wanted to share our bad experience with Robbie Larmour from Parka renovations. We engaged him to renovate our bathroom & laundry as well as carry out some roof repairs and install new gutters around the house. Robbie would demand payments before completing the milestones he provided in his quote, citing his cash flow situation and would become rude if we did not comply and threaten us that the work will be delayed further. Quality of work: Poor workmanship and bad finishes all around. Several issues faced due to improper work such as bathroom shower glass shattering, push-to-open hooks giving away, bent sliding doors, paint peeling off when doors are slid and so on. The gutters around the house are so badly installed that they are sagging down and rain water from the roof is flowing straight over the gutters on to the ground, as if there are no gutters. All the gutter joints are leaking (Our old damaged gutters were better!). Claims that he has 20 years of roofing experience, but could not install basic gutters outside the house properly, gutters look defectively installed even to a layman’s eyes, but he says that they look fine and that he needs to come when it is raining to see why they are leaking. He said he will come only when it rains during business hours, but did not show up even after multiple rain events. Delivery time: A few days delay here and there is expected, but the work was delayed and left unfinished after months. He did not keep up to his words. When the shower glass shattered, he turned up after a month to attend to it. We had to put up with broken glass pieces from a shattered shower lying in the bathroom for a month (and we have a 5-year old at home, which he knows). He was friendly in the beginning, but it was very hard to get him back after making the last payment to fix any issues arising out of his poor workmanship. Did not respond to calls or messages for weeks after the last payment was made. When we put our foot down and questioned him, he accused us of being rude and abusive. Our friends and guests comment on the bad quality of work when they visit us. He did not provide his ABN or license number in his quote making it difficult to report him. We don’t recommend using Robbie from Parka renovations.

Robbie and the team were fast and efficient, were able to repair and refresh our pergola rather than having to replace it. We then had Robbie manage the complete overhaul of our upstairs bathroom which went very smoothly. Very happy to recommend.
