About Us

Based in Melbourne's inner west, we create timeless beautiful gardens which are lived in, loved and nurtured. Driven by a close collaboration between client and designer, each garden is a bespoke response to its setting. Our designs are created by carefully observing the landscape, architecture and listening to how each client wishes to interact with their environment. We wish to create gardens which are resilient and responsive to the challenges of a changing climate. Our gardens feature plants which are well suited to their environment and are sustainable. Natural materials are at the forefront of our design palette as they age gracefully and bring a soft timeless appeal. We use only materials that we have certified are durable and of high quality. Our professional services include landscape and planting design, consultancy, garden lighting, outdoor furniture procurement and project management.

Caroline worked with us in a highly professional manner and created a garden with a beautiful water feature and colorful garden with new paving. She is so knowledgeable and not only has a creative eye for colour and balance but she knows about soil conditioning and plant care. We now have an established beautiful, drought resistent, colourful, easy-care garden that perfectly suits our home and lifestyle! I’d recommend Caroline to anyone!

Caroline designed and oversaw the landscaping of our garden following renovations of our house in Yarraville. She is the absolute best and we would recommend her in a heartbeat (and already have). She is passionate about garden design (and plants!), has great ideas, has great relationships with excellent trades (all of her recommended tradies were fantastic to deal with) and is basically wonderful to work with throughout the entire process. She is also extraordinarily reasonably priced given the level of service she provides. We have had many, many compliments on our garden, which we love. We could not recommend her more highly.

I really enjoyed the process of working with Caroline. She listened to what I wanted and was passionate about the end outcome. She was also very organised and a great communicator, she kept me up to date on the progress and was very open and honest in her dealings with me. 2 years later we are still loving our garden that Caroline designed for us. We don't have a large garden but Caroline managed to include everything we wanted....not your boring run of the mill garden design. So much thought was put into it. We have an area for vegetables, an orange and Cherry tree and fruit espaliers ......plum, apricot and lemon. A bike shed/storage, outdoor entertaining area with a desidous Virgina Creeper that hangs over on wires during summer. Included a automatic watering system which alleviates the stress of watering when we go away. I am very happy to refer Caroline and she deserves it. She has a very good eye for plants and how they will fair in the garden. We look forward to seeing something pop up or flower every season.

Caroline Hyett Garden and Design transformed our small garden from pebbles and weeds into a stunning garden. The garden is low maintenance and cleverly designed. We enjoy seeing the seasonal changes throughout the year and the garden has brought the outside in adding value to our home. As garden novice's, we hired Caroline to provide guidance on developing a back yard for our new home. Caroline is highly consultative and really takes the time to understand your needs, wants and preferences. From this she created a wonderful garden design, and made a number of suggestions that wouldn't have occurred to us in a million years! As brilliantly as her advice and designs were, she was just as talented at overseeing the installation of the garden by helping source quality contractors and suppliers and project managing the work. One month, and our garden looks wonderful....but the service hasn't stopped! Caroline has popped around regularly to ensure the garden is settling in and to impart much needed wisdom to us! Highly recommend!

She designed and coordinated the construction of a new deck and outdoor living area for our backyard, complete with new garden beds, a water garden, landscaping, new plantings and a gorgeous garden lighting plan. She delivered all of this with great respect for our needs and budget. Her impressive, fresh, stylish and innovative ideas were respectfully pitched to compliment our own vision. She always displayed a great deal of integrity and diligence and it was a pleasure to work with her and the team of professionals that she hired to complete the works. I was lucky enough to find Caroline Hyett through looking up local companies on the web. It really was my lucky day. Caroline had some fantastic ideas and worked closely with me in keeping within my budget, She recommended products that I had not considered and help source them for me. I live in a warehouse and only had a medium sized courtyard to work with. The end result of our project is that I have an amazing space, with beautiful plants - that are really taking off - to relax and entertain in.
