“Brett Robinson Principal with Acre Landscape architecture was engaged in Feb 2014 to design us a new backyard which was to include an Alresco type area, decking, water feature and a redesigned garden areas with built in BBQ to compliment the replica Federation style home. The project was designed to replace the existing bluestone pitcher courtyard and retainer walls, gardens etc. The area itself was relatively small however Brett was given latitude to visually change the look by introducing new concepts and features. Brett provided us with detailed concept plans which met our original requirements plus including 2 additional stone feature walls clad in outdoor bawa bawa stone, bluestone steppers (some random) in three zones of the garden, raised bench clad in sawn bluestone and a fully detailed planting schedule for the new gardens. Brett also prepared the working drawings for the development of the decked area and the new alfresco roof which included timber lined ceiling, LED downlights 4 skylights and fan. In the conceptual phase costs came in over budget and Brett and I sat down and with the landscaper and found some creative alternatives to reduce the quoted costs while maintaining the interity of the design. Brett's experience in landscape design including plant selection, maintaining linkages between each zone of the garden, the selection and use of high quality products and creativity in providing well placed features shone through with the detailing that he applied to the concept and working drawings. Brett was easy to deal with and always available to assist with technical issues particularly during the hardscaping phase. Brett provided us with a number of landscapers and builders who he thought would be ideal for the project. We interviewed each and selected a separate landscaper and builder. Brett was often in contact with each contractor to ensure that the design was adhered to and that cost and deadlines were on track. We are so pleased with the finished product and the sensational new look to our property.
