She took our dream of having a stone patio outside of our screened in porch and worked with us until she had a designed a beautiful plan which was perfect for us. Now instead of 2 small decks which weren't connected, we have a beautiful outdoor living space that is perfect for larger parties, but also intimate enough for a small family gathering. Sue helped us find the right contractor and she worked with that contractor to make sure our plan turned out just the way she had designed it. “This is a great company. We wanted to redo our straight and narrow sidewalk into a curving wide sidewalk; redo our straight lined "flower bed/mulched/tree" area into something more curvy and inviting. We had to have our giant front yard tree taken down and she was able to show us what we could make it into. After seeing the digital format of it all we were sold and hired her. Our front yard looks AMAZING!! We get compliments on it all the time and I even think we have encouraged the neighbors to "makeover" their sidewalks/porches. We have a 3 vehicles and a cramped garage. She also helped us design a detached garage with outdoor seating/kitchen area. This is all saved on a disc that she gave us. When we have he funds this will be our next project. Her business partner,Robin, helped us design a kitchen pantry. All communication and digital pictures were down via emails. We had converted our small walkway into our bathroom into a pantry and she designed the look of our shelves. We LOVE Ikea so she sent us a list of everything that we needed. Our kitchen pantry looks great and we are very happy with it. I highly recommend these ladies for landscaping and interior designing.”

“Steve is a talented, creative, and dedicated Landscape Architect. My relationship with Steve started back in 2012 when I needed a major landscape update in the front of my house. From the moment we first met, I was impressed by his professionalism, passion, courtesy, and design skills. As time passed and I got to know Steve better, I saw how hard he worked and how dedicated and concerned he was for my project and for me. He always made time to meet or to talk on the phone to discuss drawings, and he always was patient and gave good advice, support and suggestions. If I wanted to look at some of his different projects to get an idea of what particular materials looked like in a completed design, he drove me around the city of Columbus to view them. Steve always went out of his way and above and beyond to assist me. He planted flowers and shrubs for me one evening when I needed help. He put me in touch with a gifted mason when I was not able to find anyone to apply stone veneer to my bridge. Many times he met me at Lang Stone or Semco Outdoors to pick out stone samples when I was having difficulty deciding on a stone, and on a few occasions, even offered to pick up the stone samples and drop them off at my house. In addition, I could call Steve anytime to discuss flowers, trees, and plants for the landscape. If I needed help with anything, no matter how big or small, Steve would be there to assist. He also worked really hard to figure out how to create a beautiful landscape within my budget. Steve's hard work, dedication, attention to detail, great creative imagination, and personal approach set him apart from others. For the last ten years, I turned to him whenever I needed a project done because he cared about providing quality landscaping for me and I knew it would be a good experience. Steve transformed my landscape. I have three elegant retaining walls with natural stone steps that lead down to a stone bridge. He added slab boulders along the steps to look like outcroppings so that the steps blend into the hill. He planted juniper to grow over the boulders in order to make the rocks look as if they had always been a natural part of the landscape. I wanted to use a lot of native plants and trees in other areas and was impressed by his knowledge of them and the end design. Steve paid a lot of attention to the detail of plants and hardscape, not only what they looked like during the day, but also at night so I could enjoy my outdoor space after dark, too. The lighting looks lovely at night from the road. Overall, I love the beauty and peacefulness of the environment he created. I receive a lot of nice compliments about my landscaping. I have hired Steve for another big project in 2022, and I am very excited to work with him! I highly recommend Under the Tree Design for any landscape design work you need to be done at your home.”

“I first met Will Lehnert at a House & Garden show. He was strictly a landscape architect as opposed to a design/build that always seems a little incestuous to me. He was all about design and the projects he displayed had more style and panache then your typical project, so our journey began. The plan was to add a rear deck and nano-glass wall to the house that would allow the indoor space to flow seamlessly into the outdoor area, somewhat unusual for a non-tropical locale such as Ohio. He got the vision immediately and quickly brought the concept to life. He listened to not only what I was asking for but other details that he interestingly incorporated into the design.....New England style rock walls reminiscent of home and a custom hammock that I remarked in passing was my favorite spot at my summer house. The goal was to provide a secluded yard from the surrounding urban environment...an oasis within the city....while providing entertainment options. He incorporated different venues into the design...the shaded porch, sun deck, fire pit, hammock retreat, grass area for the dog, outdoor kitchen. He worked with the house architect and contractor and suggested a barn door for the garage that was also being reconstructed as part of this project so that a party could flow from the kitchen to the great room to the porch to the yard and right into the garage for additional space or in case of inclement weather. What this actually did was to tie the entire project together and created a center point...house, yard, garage. In fact, this worked just as envisioned. Upon completion, I hosted a large party and turned the garage into an arcade with pool table and other games which also then connected to a food truck to service dinner. As it would happen of course, a light rain did fall briefly and people moved into the garage and main house and the party went on uninterrupted. He also assisted in issuing the RFP and selecting the landscape and lighting contractors. He worked very well with them directly so that I didn't have to get in the middle of it. He also coordinated with the garage contractor and interior designer (yeah, I had a lot going on simultaneously!) In the end, the house was featured in a prestigious House Tour and was a hit. More importantly, I love the space. Anyways, my point here is that Will not only got my vision but listened to other aspects of my life and created a final product that far exceeded my expectations and original idea. He has been great to work with and highly recommend Outdoor Space Design.”
