Distinctive Gardens

We engaged Distinctive Gardens (Rob Cooper) to design and construct the landscaping for our new house build. Midway through the design process Rob went MIA on our project. Rob often failed to show for site meetings, sometimes cancelling last minute and sometimes just forgetting to turn up. Rob would then repeatedly tell us that he had completed the design and promise to send the design to us "tomorrow", but despite numerous claims over 3 months this never happened. In our experience Rob was very unreliable and regularly lied to us. Distinctive Gardens ultimately never delivered on our project. Disappointing outcome as on face value Rob presents as a nice guy and seems competent, but there are some fundamental flaws. Be warned.

- Extremely poor experience - Was harassed until we finally decided to go ahead and book our initial consult by owner (named of Rob) - When he decided to come out, was rushed in the consult, we didn’t feel comfortable at all with him, answered multiple other calls during consult, very unprofessional. Left about 15-20minutes later saying he will send us through some proposed designs and sketches as he had another job to attend. - After the initial consult, we only heard back from him ONCE and that was only to pay his consult fee (he was quick to send this - within 24 hours!!!) - We paid this immediately - After we paid Rob, we never heard back from him at all despite trying to call, email and message him. Got his $250 worth for 15minutes of work and that was the end of him! - Extremely disappointed with his service, until this day we still don’t have any plans or designs from him for our front and backyard. I’ve now escalated this through the ACCC who are reviewing this for us - Would not recommend Distinctive Gardens to ANYONE and especially not the dismissive lier Rob who we dealt with. The team @ Distinctive Gardens led by Rob Cooper were a professional, capable and innovative group to work with. We were impressed with the dedication and ongoing support provided. Rob has a " can do " attitude which filters through his hard working team. He is well supported by Lee who has had years of experience and is proficient in CAD and its utilisation for clients. The landcaping at our home consisted of creating levels for terracing. This in turn has created focal points and visually lengthened and created interest to our home. Garden beds were defined, hard scaping foundations laid and planting plus new turf completed the significant scope of work. Outdoor rooms were created to provide whimsy and to compliment the indoor spaces, which we felt was crucial to successful and balanced design. We found the entire process to be pain free and would use this business again. Additionally, we would recommend Distinctive Gardens to our friends and family.

We hired Distinctive Gardens to guide and assist us with our landscape design and then carry out the work. We had a general idea of how we wanted the front and back to flow, and felt understood and excited after our initial meeting with Landscape designer and Director. When the plans soon came back for us to look over, we were so impressed and did not have to wait long to get the work under way. Instead of in our eyes initially 'just being a garden to finish off the new build' it became the finishing touch that took our property from being lovely to amazing. The staff - The designers to the Landscapers - have been such a pleasure to deal with, rain or shine smiling faces, always approachable and happy to keep us in the loop.
