Glascott Landscape and Civil was born of the land and remains dedicated to its good management. Founder Matthew Glascott comes from a long line of farmers and graziers who were pioneer settlers in the central west. Others were road builders in the Riverina. Many of his descendants continue to farm for a living so tilling and managing the land is definitely in his blood. Matthew’s parents were country born and bred and they instilled in him a love of plants, trees and the life-giving water from rivers and aquifers. His father, Joseph Glascott, was the first Environment Writer for the Sydney Morning Herald. Joseph wrote about town planning and air and water pollution control as well as reporting on battles to save the NSW rainforests, Tasmania’s Franklin Dam and Queensland’s Daintree rainforest. Matthew launched Glascott Landscape and Civil in 1989 not long after these battles. He absorbed his dad’s love for the “wide brown land” and concern for the environment as he built his business. After studying at Ryde School of Horticulture, Matthew used his creative design and business skills to develop his firm into today’s major civil landscaping company. A love of plant life and ‘form’ in all its many guises remains his passion. Matthew’s concern for parks and gardens is evidenced by his appointment to the board of the Friends of Royal Botanic Gardens. Matthew and his dedicated team are committed to making sure that every Glascott construction project is completed to not only fit aesthetically with its surrounds, but to also minimise environmental impact and maintain each site’s natural integrity. The company works with architects, building firms, contractors, developers and government departments and with more than 80 staff, is one of the largest landscaping Contractors in Australia. Now with over 25 years’ experience in the complete construction and project management of high quality hard and soft landscapes, Glascott is also one of the most experienced. In that quarter of a century the company has earned a reputation for honesty, integrity, reliability and being easy to deal with.
