We had our home built by Heron Homes and everything from start to finish has far exceeded our expectations. Dealing with Alan not only made the transition easy but it was satisfying seeing our home go from a plan to reality. No problem was too big and no small issue was overlooked. Every time we needed to discuss some issues regarding our build, Alan was always there to assist, suggest, recommend and more importantly was always willing to hear what we needed. I have no hesitation in recommending Heron Homes for any construction that you might be planning. Alan was able to give us a product that he and his company took great pride and respect in constructing.

Alan has been a rock for us and our project.. we completely gutted our condo and Alan and his team have been there since day one! He listens and responds immediately.. He is a leader and has the respect of everyone who works for him.. nicely also he has a good sense of humor as well which is refreshing with such intense work being done.. We also battled through COVID and condo restrictions .. and we are almost there .. we would recommend Alan Heron anytime to anyone ...

We hired Alan Heron Homes to do a main floor project. A wall was removed, ceilings refinished, new flooring and pot lights installed and a staircase refinished. We are very pleased with the results. The project went smoothly from the start. Alan Heron returned emails and phone calls promptly. The paperwork was handled professionally. The project oversite was excellent with project manager Steve checking in daily either on site or by phone. All contactors showed up on time and cleaned up daily. The ceiling refinishers, electricians, floor installer and staircase refinisher were all meticulous about and had pride in their work. We would highly recommend this company for any home project!

Alan and his crew did a wonderful job with our renovation and flood repairs. They were honest, patient and very professional throughout the project and I would hire him again for any work I am doing on my home. He came highly recommended to me by my real estate agent, and I couldn't have asked for a better job!!

We contacted a number of contractors to discuss the complete renovation and back addition to our first family home and decided on Alan Heron Homes. From the initial conversation and meeting with Alan, we were impressed with his construction knowledge and confidence in completing the project within our budget and within our 6 month timeline. From the very beginning of the project, Alan was on-site daily to ensure the coordination of work and timelines. Looking back, I think this initial stage and his daily presence was absolutely important. As the project progressed, he regularly popped in and out of the house to check up on the work and to check in with us and chat with the various tradesmen. Alan presented us with bids from subcontractors such as framing, electrical, masonry, etc. and gave us information and recommendations which assisted in our selection. We completely relied on his expertise on these matters as this was our first renovation. Alan always proposed options and explained the relative cost vs value of each. This was especially important when choosing big ticket items like windows and helped to keep us close to our original budget. We found everyone on the work crews courteous and professional. They were particularly patient as I asked question after question so as to understand the work they were doing. Although I often found it extremely stressful to see different crews coming in and out of the house, I was confident in Alan’s skills and knowledge to coordinate all the trades and ensure they were doing good work. And I could tell that they all respected him, which was comforting. Of course as with any major renovation there were some plan changes; sometimes due to budget and sometimes due to design preferences. We met with Alan at the house on several occasions to re-think some of our decisions and talk through alternate options as we tried to optimize space. Alan's recommendation to use sistered LVL beams to open up the main floor was a game changer and created an amazing open plan. We also discovered that sometimes things look good on paper but not so good in real life. This was the case with the location of our ensuite bath which was something that Alan himself brought to our attention. We were grateful for his guidance as he presented us with options and opportunities along the way, such as relocating a structural post in the basement into a new wall to open up the family room space. There were also some surprises and setback such as our sewer lines backing up and running out of selected tile. But these setbacks were always handled directly by Alan who still kept things moving and continued to keep us up to date. After our renovation was complete and our family had returned to our newly renovated home, there were still as expected, some minor details that needed attention but Alan remained responsive and willing to wrap up those little things. Alan and Steve were great to work with. Very knowledgeable and very professional. I particularly appreciated the fact that they were so proactive. Even with clear plans it's tough to anticipate every issue that may arise. Everywhere we had a choice to make they were terrific about not making assumptions, but rather providing choices and recommendations. All the trades they worked with were also very capable and professional. Would definitely hire them again.

Alan Heron did an excellent job taking my 100 year old home and bringing it up to date while holding on to that nod to the past. We wanted a space that was clean calm and relaxing with function and practicality coming first. We wanted some things that a first seemed impossible but Alan and his team worked calmly and professionally to find the perfect solution. We were also able to control the costs by incorporating some previously renovated spaces into the new plan. For example we were able to keep our kitchen with some paint, new floor, and new ceiling. We are pleased with the peace this renovation has brought to our lives. It's not often you get to use peace and renovate in the same sentence.

It was a pleasure to work with Alan & his team. My house in Kleinburg was built smoothly from the ground up. I was involved in every aspect of the home & my requests & needs for the home were always met. All of the trades that he used were excellent & professional. My wife and I decided to demolish our home of 5 years and build custom in our old neighbourhood of Newmarket. After interviewing several builders, we felt very comfortable with Alan's approach to our project and was sensitive to our concerns. He laid out an actual budge for us, based on our working architectural drawings we had previously commissioned and then showed us clearly how he would make his profit. We really liked the cost + approach, rather than the straight $/square foot approach, as it allowed us to go custom in some areas and standard in other. Alan's communication was fabulous too. Our project was on schedule and from demolition (July 4, 2016) to the day we moved in (February 17, 2017). Also, our neighbours, for the most part, were very happy with Alan's team and sub contractors as they were very respectful to the established neighbourhood. We have been very happy with the process and would recommend their services for anyone considering a custom build within the GTA.

We were referred to Alan Heron Homes when we were in the midst of a major home renovation and were left with no alternative but to terminate the existing Designer/Contractor. Contrary to our past experience it is refreshing to deal with a company and individuals whom are skilled professionals and demonstrate integrity and honesty.
