RGB was my hero too. And I too was devastated when she passed. Selfishly the timing could not have been worse for all women.

I agree. I see nothing wrong with the house except the green desert out front. Clumps of trees, shrubs, spring bulbs would all improve the blank look.
But it doesn't look nice. It doesn't look welcoming. Useless paving almost never looks nice in a non-arid environment.

Thanks for sharing the video, Petalique. She had reached out for help so many times. Her healthcare providers were negligent, that’s for sure. And regardless of the jury’s ruling, she will be living in hell the rest of her life.
The condition of toxic empathy doesn’t even apply to this case. What an odd thing to say.

I had to think about it for a bit but I did come back to this post to watch the video @petalique posted. I’m glad that I did watch it. It’s appalling that so many different medical professionals were prescribing so many different drugs. The lack of a continuum of care or any kind of coordination between care providers seems obvious. I’d wondered where her husband was when Ms. Clancy was disintegrating & the video addresses that a little bit. From the video info it does sound like he was asking for help for her. The real tragedy, IMO, is that no one in the family recognized the extreme danger to the children and so didn’t remove them from Ms. Clancy or otherwise make sure she was never left alone with them. Ms. Clancy’s husband’s cries of alarm and for help were not heeded or heard. People do make mistakes but this situation involves too many medical professionals not paying attention.

Yes, yes I would have wanted to be there, especially to see and hear Country Joe and the Fish perform The "Fish" Cheer/I-Feel-Like-I'm-Fixin'-to-Die Rag. From a timing perspective, I was inducted in March 1969 (“Uncle Sam needs your help again”). By August 1969 I pined for some long-haired camaraderie and, I was trained in the mud, was always around lots of people, some smelly, some drunk, some high – just couldn’t get away. Of course – your head is wired funny at 20 years old. "Give me an F!"

It really is embarrassing that Texas has such a problem with stray and dumped dogs and cats, especially where there are so many spay and neuter clinics. I'm sure many or most that are turned loose or dumped are because people find they cannot afford proper care for them. I don't know about Harris County, but Montgomery County's shelter charges an owner surrender fee. I had to pay the fee once after I found a puppy after a storm, took it to get scanned and took care of it while looking for an owner. After 7 days, the county considers you the owner. Never fear: I paid the fee, continued to foster her, took her to adoption events and then paid the adoption fee to keep her. The ultimate foster fail. I'd love to foster some puppies, but my track record scares me. Glad all these found great care and new homes (I'm sure that last one soon will).

Reading Bill Bryson's A Short History of Nearly Everything and enjoying it. I admire writers -- scientists or not -- who can translate heavy science to lay persons without overly dumbing it down, like Stephen Jay Gould, Richard Dawkins, Stephen Hawking, and Siddhartha Mukherjee.
Bryson's writing is clear and effective. I don't always follow the seeminly abrupt jumps he makes from one period of scientific exploration to another, just following along for now. Nearly half way through it. With these books, particularly Mukherjee's, I have to re-read several times to understand. (It's not Mukherjee's fault, he's a brilliant writer, he just writes at a higher scientific level than Bryson or Gould, for instance.)
Get emails here saying that my cloud is filled and I need to re-new it, or something like that. If I use the cloud it's not on purpose. Need some rain from that cloud.
That’s what I have, has worked fine for 5+ years. I nixed the landscape company’s suggestion for artificial turf, ends up looking like miniature golf turf after getting matted down by cars, etc.

I feel the TV should be on the full wall on a console or on the wall. This way you can see both the TV and the fireplace. Also another option is the sofa in front of the window and both chairs opposite.
@porkchop_z5b_MI, About five years ago, my husband put in apple trees and I must have read tbe same info as you because I planted comfrey under them, BUT… I purchased root cuttings for the sterile Bocking-14 variety from Etsy. It was easy to start from the cuttings and it has persisted without really spreading at all. I recently dug one out for a friend. I have very loose sandy soil so I was able to pull the entire root which was longer than my arm from shoulder to finger tip. Given how long the root is and how easily it grows from and piece of root, I can see why @ken_adrian Adrian MI cold Z5 hates it, but it has been an easy sbd carefree tree companion for me.
Gosh, I do miss Ken. He always made me smile/laugh.

I've seen many homes where it's clear that someone spent time watching HGTV/looking through many Pinterest posts/etc. - the room looks "nice" - however, it has an impersonal feel to it. I think that people's homes used to look unique inside - however, it seems like so many people have living rooms/kitchens/bedrooms/bathrooms that look very similar due to HGTV shows + Instagram + Pinterest + etc.

I grew almost all of mine from seed, I think it was "Mariesii" but honestly I don't remember. One large clump I took from my other house, so it's probably at least 13-15 years old. Some other assorted ones were ones I've stumbled on. The tall ones are definitely not easy to find, which is a shame, the shorter ones just don't have the elegant proportions of the tall ones (same for a heck of lot of dwarfed plants IMO).

At the animal clinic where I work I was quite surprised how many rabbits live in child-free homes. Why do we think of bunnies as a pet of children?

I discovered these eggs on my screen door last week, and this time the owner was there. got a good photo of the female and did an image search to find out the spider’s identity.
Very convenient for these arachnids to have the screen as a matrix.
Below are my two photos of the spider laying eggs on my screen.
NOTE: These Are beneficial insects. Please put the vacuum cleaner down.

The eggs are on the OUTSIDE of the screen (the daddy long legs was outside). These arachnids are not actually ”spiders.” and they are harmless to humans. They eat aphids and fungi — that’s a good thing.
Please let them hatch and be on their way. They are not interested getting indoors.
Also (for the most part) when you vacuum up insects, they are going to be smothered by the mechanical and air dynamics of the process. Their breathing aperatus with become clogged with fine dust particles because of all the turbulance. They will likely sustain a good bruising.
But, again, there is absolutely no reason that I can see to disturb or kill them. They will soon be on their way, into the garden or woods. Enjoy nature.
