“There was very much a reuse and reclaim approach to the design,” explains Camisuli. This is particularly so in the multi-functional space at the back of the house, where the exposed brickwork is made up from what was the garden wall, as well as reclaimed London stock to maintain period character. In the centre of the kitchen area, the chunky timber island is a reclaimed butcher’s block over which scaffolding poles have been erected to form a hanging rail for pots and pans.

4. Think bigThis kitchen plays host to a whole collection of upcycling ideas. Reclaimed floorboards have been turned into cupboard doors, bricks form the sides of the units, and the wooden island in the middle is an old butcher’s block, with scaffold poles forming a hanging rail for pots and pans. The result is a unique kitchen that shows just what can be done with an imaginative approach to reusing materials.
