Retro boho chic with an industrial edge. Wood, metal, coloured glass and ceramics and modern and op shop or flea market finds. Upcycled and recycled as much as possible. Environmentally friendly, energy saving and a passive and sustainable approach.
My next project: Redoing my current bathroom, painting the exterior and finishing the driveway and garage or moving to Wanganui to a 20s style home and doing the same, if necessary. Possibly building our own 2 bedroom home - preferably gabled cottage style with a green roof. Double glazing and blues and greens in and out - not the normal boring brick build or bland white and grey - of which there is too much of here in the Manawatu.
About me: I love design and have en environmental science background. Texture and colour are hallmarks of my design style. I am a bit geeky and a bit creative and a mix of science and spiritual - my balance lies between these 2 opposites as one works better with the other. I am a real earthbound girl who loves being by water but needs a garden full of herbs, veges, fruit and flowers and love a sustainable approach to design in all forms. I prefer recycled and repurposed to new. I love art especially wood, glass and ceramic but love botanic prints and artists like Michael Smithers who are environmentally focused and love bold colours. I also love words, music and books - these are elements of my style along with woven items and fabrics. I love to incorporate my dogs needs into my design and to make my garden a place of solace and relaxation for myself and others. Currently lacking a covered outdoor area and an indoor /outdoor flow living in a 1950's fibro house that could be better designed for my lifestyle and that needs a new driveway and garage right now - but that will take time, energy and money which would be better invested in the new home being planned with my partner Wayne.
