Alameda Gold Coast Gracious Family Home
***Featured in Oakland Magazine, October 2016***
This space is home to a vibrant family, complete with three young kids and a dog. So it goes without saying that they needed fabrics and finishes that were both durable and easy to clean. They also wanted a space that combined their modern sensibilities with the gorgeous classical architecture already in place.
We highlighted the magnificent built ins and mouldings by using soothing pastels on the walls. These shades of blue, green and gray also provided the perfect backdrop to bold bursts of color and lots of pattern. Because we combined these elements with lots of neutrals, however, the space still feels serene: a must in such a busy home.
We fulfilled another wish of theirs by carving out distinct spaces in the living room. The room is very large, and could be prone to feeling cavernous. But with careful space planning, everyone now has a place to play, hang out, watch TV, read, converse, and eat.
After completing work in the public spaces of the home, the family hired us to revamp the bedrooms upstairs. We're now working our way through the entire house, with more rooms to come.
The clients are thrilled with how everything is turning out, and so are we. The spaces feel so happy, personal, and coherent, things we strive for in all of our projects.
