The owners of this Edwardian home in Brighton approached Bayside Extensions to undertake a second-storey extension to their home. They wanted to add extra space to accommodate their growing family.

Their brief was to add two bedrooms and a bathroom, as well as a separate powder room. Additionally, they also wanted to include a living room/retreat upstairs that incorporated a bay window to match the living room space on the existing ground floor.

The two levels of this home are connected by a modern staircase with glass balustrading. There’s also a large window that makes an impact on the landing of the stairs. Not only does this window make a grand statement but it also allows natural light to stream through to the level below, creating a unique and beautiful look. There is also plenty of storage space that has been built into the under stair cupboard.

We also renovated the downstairs area by demolishing an existing bathroom and making way for a larger kitchen, and introducing more space for the owners to entertain.

The end result is a beautiful home that blends the period character of the original home with a modern and spacious extension that the family can enjoy for many years to come.
