Contemporary Home - Mont Albert

A challenge posed nowadays is that affordable housing often means smaller houses. But that shouldn't mean that you can't make the most of what you've got.

In this project, a young family in Mont Albert were faced with the same challenges. However, by careful consideration of materials, open space plan, multi-functional joinery, and encompassing as much natural light, this home has transformed into a spacious and homely residence.

The design contains a concealed TV behind the living room joinery with an integrated fireplace. A niche pocket was created for the kitchen to sit within, and joinery and storage have been integrated within partitions throughout this home. We've also kept an opening between the living room and kitchen to allow for the natural light to flow through. And, the use of full-height glazing to create a sense of a bigger space through the patio extension.
