Hawthorne Residence
The warmth of the timber and stone finishes was injected with personality through the use of emerald green, navy blue and aqua throughout the soft-furnishings and large custom-made rugs. My clients requested that their bedroom have a sense of calm relaxation, and this was achieved through the colour scheme of light-blue denim with chartreuse accents.
Wherever I could, I selected furniture pieces that held their own, from an antique mirror-clad chest of drawers, a black lacquered modern specimen chair and a multi-faceted timber veneer sideboard with brass handles.
The outdoor areas overlooking the Brisbane River were of great importance. For these areas I selected a large suite of outdoor furniture in anthracite powder-coated aluminium with bright aqua upholstery and coordinating scatter cushions. These areas are often used for entertaining and have been a huge success.
The final layer of this home was completed by working closely with my clients to curate their existing art collection and acquire new artworks to fill the various walls throughout the home. The end result is a modern home full of warmth, colour and personality.
