Casting off their old, cramped kitchen, the clients of this beachside location wanted to recognise their love for the ocean but to also do something different to the classic beach vibe.

Our designer found the perfect look with a mix of art-deco and 1930s nautical style, inspired by the era that the home was originally built in, creating a lovely touch of old school glamour.

The navy blue cabinetry coupled with ornate brass trimmings in the tap ware, handles, oven knobs and stylish pendant lighting, blends the art-deco and nautical aesthetics seamlessly.

The swirling grey Quartzite stone on both the island benchtop and splashback adds a moody oceanic feel.

The two-pack polyurethane cabinetry is a mix of slim shaker and V-groove, and creates plenty of storage space above and below the counter with hinges and drawers by Blum hardware for smooth sailing. An appliance cabinet helps to keep the main benchtop clutter free.

The high-end appliances used; Ilve oven and cooktop; Qasair rangehood; Neff dishwasher; and Fisher & Paykel integrated fridge help to elevate this kitchen into an extremely special place.

It’s an inspired, bold look that the clients took a chance on, and it has paid off brilliantly.
