Shelly Beach Residence 2
Renovation
Moderate alterations bring major spatial qualities to this 1970's beach house.
By raising the new roof to the second floor, The existing first floor bedrooms retain their views north through the new living space void.
Clerestory windows allow generous natural light and views to the rolling sky.
The addition of a 4 car basement provided a unique opportunity to create the ultimate outdoor living space above, which includes a pond, garden, fire pit and protection from the elements.
Structural elements are defined into overlapping walls, planes and overhangs that both dissolve and exaggerate spatial boundaries.
Natural materials are used extensively. Concrete, Stone, Glass, Timber Siding with both Natural and Shou Sugi Ban techniques.
Construction completed December 2019
