The home owner had been longing to design and build their dream family home for years. The vision she had for their forever family home had always been Hamptons style. “Hamptons homes give the feeling of love and attention to detail. They are genuinely classic and timeless,” says the owner.

The pictorials of Country Style, Home Beautiful, and House and Garden allowed the owner to visually translate her vision to building designer James Collins from Collin W Collins Pty Ltd and building company Shipway Constructions. And what a vision that turned out to be. Shingled roof tiles, horizontal weatherboard, white trims, decorative fretwork and coastal colours are just a few of the defining Hamptons style additions that make up the exterior of the home.

The wraparound Linea Weatherboard 180-millimetre in Dulux™ Guild Grey is a standout feature of the home. “We looked at Linea Weatherboard when we lived on our rural property because it’s fire, termite and moisture resistant,” explains Trailea. “When we moved to Port Macquarie there was no question that we’d look at using Linea Weatherboard again”.

The owners chose Linea Weatherboards by James Hardie for both aesthetic and pragmatic reasons. Firstly, Linea Weatherboard helped them to capture the seamless horizontal lines and shadow effects, created by the 180-millimetre profile, that are the essence of a true Hamptons style exterior. The weatherboard came up looking smooth and absolutely beautiful when painted and creates that traditional and timeless coastal feel, which is exactly what Hamptons style is”, says the owner.
