Tree Tops House

A new 2-storey house on the Mornington Peninsul, designed to align with the day-to-day routines and nuances of our clients. The house opens up to accommodate a large party or closes down for two to enjoy a glass of wine in front of the fire.

Evolved around our clients love of food, wine and entertaining tempered by their wish to be private and self-contained when guests are staying. The ground floor is planned around a central, curved, masonry cellar to house the owners wine collection. The ground floor interior reflects formal materiality: solid, grounded concrete terraces and rendered block balanced with polished-concrete screed floors and charcoal coloured ceilings.

Upstairs, the ceiling rakes up and away – opening up the first views over Port Phillip Bay. From this first floor ‘apartment’ our clients can both engage with their treetop environment and remain private from the passing world.
