A French Provincial Residence In Templestowe

Jane’s clients engaged her shortly after the building process had just begun. Her clients and their builder had poured the concrete slab and were beginning to erect the frame of the house. Jane overlooked the building plans and consulted with her clients to ensure they could achieve their end design goals. A critical component of interior design is working with clients to ensure their space is being built and designed around their intended use. Jane and her clients were able to create design goals and work towards their end vision of the space.

Jane provided colour consultations on all the designs and finishes internally and externally. Establishing a clear colour palette was essential in the early stages of the design process. Jane also designed, selected and supplied soft furnishings and window furnishings. The clients already had existing pieces of furniture they intended to use for their home. Therefore, it was critical that the new soft furnishings complemented the existing pieces of furniture.

Jane also designed, supplied and installed internal joinery and light fittings. Being large rooms, having adequate soft lighting to embrace the style of the home was a essential. Working with her long time suppliers in the industry, Jane was able to tailor personalised light fittings for her clients.

The style of property is french provincial. Therefore the soft furnishings and colour palette had to have empathy for the architectural design of the property.

The clients were engaged throughout the whole process as they became co-creators with Jane. It is essential when designing a home for clients that they become engaged in the process. Keeping them informed and educated as to the decision making process and why certain colours were chosen helps their overall understanding of the design. This further allows the client to work along their interior designer to create the exact look they are after.
