Set on an acreage property in the Brisbane hinterland, this home is owned by a family who favour contemporary design. The existing kitchen was very traditional and dated looking and needed a complete revamp. Given that the kitchen has a northerly aspect and plenty of natural light, we decided to go for the big statement of a dark wall at the rear and tie this back to the large, stone topped island bench. A key requirement was a butler's pantry which is tucked in behind the feature wall and houses an additional sink, bar fridge and smaller appliances. To add texture we chose a beautiful Spanish hexagonal glass tile for the splashbacks.
