Our client commissioned a Bert Flugelman sculpture in stainless steel to act as a portal at the waters edge. Amazingly, when our client sold the house to move overseas, the new owners placed a traditional Japanese red Torii in the place previously occupied by the Flugelman...thus the original idea of providing separation between the spiritual and the profane was given continuity.
A cantilevered glass staircase provides a dramatic structure to move up and down the house.
