Diamond Creek Residence
Cleverly combining sleek "Almond Rocca" Caesarstone and natural timber, this inviting kitchen, by Kitchens by Matric, is in keeping with the Federation style of this home yet will remain contemporary for years to come.
The homeowners approached Kitchens by Matric wanting a functional design to accommodate a gourmet cook, with high-quality finishes that would stand up to a busy family. The design needed to create a smooth transition between the kitchen and the alfresco area while allowing the homeowners to enjoy views of the rear garden to one side and the Kinglake Ranges to the other.
Designed by Kathryn Hartshorn, the kitchen is a cosy space in winter, with the warmth of the solid redgum timber island bench and the addition of a cleverly-positioned heater vent to warm the family's toes. In summer, the area transforms into an entertaining space with a seamless transition to the sunny outdoor deck.
Hartshorn's design positions all items where they are needed during preparation, cooking and cleaning, hence the exclusion of a traditional-style pantry. The kitchen window and sink were positioned so that items could be easily passed through to the outdoor barbecue.
