A family owned site that remained vacant for over 40 years, became the perfect canvas for this unique design - light filled, spatially articulated but compact. The contemporary building draws direct influence from the traditional dwelling style and scale of the neighbourhood's dwellings. The realised aesthetic however is clean and streamlined, housing two storeys within a single storey profile.
Striking and dramatic, the exposed gable roof extends over the living zone into the attic-style bedroom above. Cosy and intimate, the bedroom makes for an interesting use of space within the homes tight profile.
The success of the house is not a result of specifying expensive fittings or materials. Rather, it is the articulation and balance of every space through carefully considered detailing, and making the most of every opportunity to express the spaces in an interesting and fresh manner.
