The original house was set back from the front street significantly and built to both side boundaries. The owner was a keen collector of cars. So we designed a garage that sat in the front garden like a pavillion with highlight glazing and arched windows that show cased his cars with dramatic light...

A new rear extension houses an open plan kitchen, meals, living. Travertine tiles were layed on the floor and extend outside. Stained solid victorian ash hardwood was used for the kitchen cupboards and calacutta marble for the bench tops. In the distance, a concealed door in a timber panelled wall...

The former dining room was converted to a libray/home office with chuncky timber shelving, desk and computer station. A custom designed ladder on wheels provides access to the upper book shelves. Mood lighting is provided including a chandelier in a raised coffered ceiling.

The orginal fireplace was plastered in and is now the new bed head, with recessed wall niches housing bed side tables and lamps. The wall to the balcony was demolished to create a new parents retreat with built in storage, window seat and fireplace.

Th eorinial 1960's curved pool was removed and replace with a new contempoary tiled pool.

A new pool was acompanied with new garden walls that were rendered to match the colour of the house. Plants were added to soften the harsh rectilinear shapes . An adjacent area was tiled to provide a sun bathing retreat.

A new hard edged pool is complimented with a sculpture and minimum planting to emphasise the rectilinear design.

A new wine cellar was constructed with a curved ceiling lined with stained timber battens to create a wine barrel feeling. Open shelving display wine bottles and bar equipment. The bench top is made of calacuta marble and a wine fride is housed under bench. The wine is displayed in custom built...
