Kookaburra Cove
From dark, narrow and closed-off to bright, open and inviting – this kitchen has been transformed with a new layout, custom joinery and a timeless palette of colours and materials.
With their children now grown, our clients wanted to breathe new life into their dated kitchen, making it a welcoming hub for family get-togethers. Access to light and water views were key, as was drawing the cooking space into the adjoining dining and living area to keep the conversation flowing.
Replacing a solid wall between the kitchen and dining/ living area with a slatted oak screen floods the area with natural light and opens up the views, with a five-metre-long, granite-clad island providing plenty of room to prep meals and gather for a chat.
Nearby, the large original laundry was divided into two; a smaller and more functional laundry in moody navy, and a new powder room made magical with walls lined with Fornasetti’s whimsical cloud wallpaper.
The plain, primary ensuite was reimagined with a fresh layout and layers of soft-grey stone, coupled with a mirrored shower nib wall to amplify light and the sense of space.
