Kruger residence is a contemporary home that reflects the vibrant surroundings and context of Moreton Bay in Scarborough Point. This project had the firmness of purpose to create an aspiring crafted home that endorses its location and picturesque surroundings. With clients unprejudiced and willing to consider all ideas, this project sparked from the initial brief of requiring separate sleeping zones, a chillout area, privacy and an inviting relaxation zone. With this in mind, we developed on the concept of distinct living areas that not only just appealing but take full advantage of the beautiful oceanic view’s day and night. In order to luxuriate a floating geometric form appears to protrude above and towards the bay.
The families brief called for a lively floor layout and arrangement where two distinct entries and living zones were requisite in order for their two daughters to feel as if they had their own space. Alternative challenges included the clients desire to house four vehicles and a truck all within a 12m wide block. Our solution was to incorporate a large carport under the first level splitting the lower level. This benefited the clients need for separated living areas as the lower level was now divided, providing a parent’s entry and an entryway for the children, both with coloured doors reflecting the users.
In order to compliment the coastal beach theme, the material palette was carefully selected in which incorporated custom cut aluminium composite cladding, weatherboard cladding, white render and vertical battens. To give a more contemporary rendition of the surrounding beach shacks, the materials and colours tied together.
Going against your typical family dwelling, the clients acceptive persona made an innovative yet beachy home to appreciate with family and friends. This is a truly remarkable escape from everyday living.
