Mount Eliza Custom Home
Awards & Recognition
• Winner – Design Excellence Award
Design Matters National Awards 2023
• Commendation – New Residential Buildings $1.0M–$1.5M
BDAA National Design Awards 2023
Winner of multiple national awards, the Mount Eliza Beach House is designed as a modern “glasshouse” centred around a private courtyard and swimming pool. Every main space — from the living areas to the bedrooms — connects directly to this outdoor heart through full-height glazing, inviting natural light and coastal breezes into the home.
A continuous hallway skylight enhances the home’s bright, airy feel, while varying ceiling heights and a cantilevered master suite add a sculptural, floating quality inspired by nearby Mornington beaches. The U-shaped layout supports both connection and privacy: children can see family activity from their bedrooms, yet each zone can be closed off for quiet moments with sliding partitions and thoughtful planning.
Each bedroom features a built-in daybed facing the courtyard, creating playful spaces animated by the shimmering reflections of the pool. Inside, the palette is minimal yet warm — white surfaces softened by timber accents and modern furnishings, offering a timeless and inviting atmosphere.
This project reflects a strong commitment to passive solar design, family-centred living, and contemporary coastal architecture, brought together with clarity, simplicity, and enduring materiality.
