Old Argyle Road Exeter
Construction of a contemporary Australian country home. The block, which was affected by standing water, and generally little fall (less than 600mm over the 5 acres), was extensively re-shaped to include two small lakes thereby eliminating the issue. The excavated material from the lakes was re-used to raise the building platform. The house itself, is designed by Archebiosis Architects and incorporates many passive solar elements, as well as extensive insulation and UPVC windows to ensure an energy efficient dwelling. The design includes 4 pavilions, 3 are clad in western red cedar and these are linked by a large central pavilion clad in fibre cement sheeting. KELA Building Group, engaged the Architect on behalf of the client, developed the earthworks solution to solve the site drainage issues, and coordinated all other design work. KELA undertook all construction works including civil, structural, fitout, services and joinery.
