Point Piper Apartment
The philosophy of the Point Piper Apartment was to combine seemingly disparate elements from different cultures and eras to create a sense of serenity and bohemian chic. It also illustrates the way a 1920s interior can be decorated to feel classic yet completely modern. By layering interesting colours and textures, we built up richness and personality in each room. Artwork was crucial, the starting point of our methodology. For example, the Jason Benjamin still life of figs, Until nothing was enough, was the inspiration for the opulent colour scheme in the living room – its peach- and russet-toned Persian rug, battered French vintage chair in stained tobacco leather and velvet cushions.
We worked closely with the client in creating this scheme. Another important methodology was to contrast the old and new, light and dark elements to create theatrical, dramatic effects. Many of the client’s existing pieces, such as the chandelier, artworks, Chinese Hall table and vintage Louis Vuitton trunks, were incorporated.
The apartment is above all a home that must reflect the client’s personality and history.
